Australian Guitar volume 70 has the tab for Rock N Roll Train, if that helps.
Don't have a scanner though.

Re: Best Signature Gat?
Are the Kerry King gats any good? Always thought they looked the part -- although King uses BC Rich, and the rest of Slayer use ESP (Hanneman and Araya).DaNextSlash wrote:For metal's sake. Phil Demmel Signature Jackson King V or Kevin Bond

My original thought was Malcolm Young, in the original Hells Bells music video.telefiend wrote:That's cool man. Very Frusciante
It looks bloody massive on him, too.

I can be honest, I was extremely tempted by that Union Jack pickguard. Always been an Oasis fan.

Re: Artists & Albums with crap production values.....
There's a word for what I mean (subtlety in volume with no compression), but I can't lay my hands on it. Dynamics? That's it. If I've got a amp plus speaker setup that cost me more than a grand (go go component stereo), it should play modern music at least as good (if not better) than old 70s and 8...

Re: Artists & Albums with crap production values.....
once its all mixed down then compressed (to save it haha) your 6K rig may as well have been a line 6 set up. Why do engineers compress album releases? I've heard that radio edits of songs get compressed to hell and back to try and make them sound louder, but... Really, really good recordings of cla...

Re: Artists & Albums with crap production values.....
Well, to SOME extent, I like older recordings where the instruments sound a tad fuzzier. I really hated the 80s where production went digital and all of a sudden, things sounded so empty. :P I think what they mean is like hearing a pipe organ in front of you, playing, say Toccata and Fugue in D Min...

Re: Your favourite Strat colour combination...
Black bodypaint, with NO Pick guard (P ups mounted LP fashion), and silver metalwork, with silver covers over the pickups. The black and silver look neat, contrasting.
But then again, given my Satin Fat Trans strat, I'd be biased

Re: Artists & Albums with crap production values.....
A single mic in the room can be fantastic. 8) The tracks on "American Recordings" were largely Johnny Cash in his living room with his guitar and a microphone, and that album is amazing. What amazes me more is that Rick Rubin (of Slayer etc etc etc) was the producer, Cash did Soundgarden ...

You don't know what crap production values truly are until you've heard "Dawn of the Black Hearts" by MayheM.
If you'd throw up visiting a slaughterboard, then don't look that one up, by the way.

Re: Guitarists you rate that no-one else does?
Don't know if I'd call him a guitarist as such, but one artist I rate quite highly is Tom Waits. He's a bit strange, but his music is pretty damn good.
Haven't come across anyone who has heard of him, let alone rate him, poorly or otherwise.

Bassline in a song?
On the videos for Fat Freddy's Drop, they don't seem to have a bass (from memory), but that distinctive sound cuts through Wandering Eye (and is to me one of the big draws of the song.)
Anyone know what the story is?

Re: One rose no guns
My only opinion on the whole topic is that Velvet Revolver (Slash's new band) rocks pretty hard, while the latest GnR single on the radio? I listened to it and thought "Axl had how many years to come up with this?"
