Re: Auckland Gearfest - Saturday 14th November - 12:30pm till 4:30pm

You're doing it wrong, more wrist, less shoulder. Had cortisone shot yesterday for my 'frozen shoulder'. Didn't even know it was a thing until a week ago. Very common apparently. Bastard thing. I hope you recover quickly. I had a shoulder op and ended up with a frozen shoulder. It is the absolute w...

I didn't like any of them tbh - but if I had to pick one it would be Beato's.

Re: Camera advice...

But, the Nikon mount hasn't changed since the 40s so any lens you have now will work on a modern body (albeit manual only if it doesn't have AF etc) which is something to think about. The Nikon mount changed with the release of their mirrorless cameras. If I wasn't invested with Nikon gear I would ...

Wow that was really impressive. I'd say he's done it at least a few 100 times!

I don't know of any rehearsal rooms. Practice has always been in garages .. but out past Beachlands area or rather quietly in the lounge. Penrose isn't out of the way.

If you're looking for another guitarist I'd be keen. I'm East Auckland. Also in my 40's (40's is the new 20's right!? RIGHT!?)

Re: String Gauge Comparisons

I wasn't expecting a difference at all. To my ears the 11's sounded muddier and there was more clarity in the 8's. But as BG has said the change could be due to the change in attack from the right hand and grip on the left. I still like 11's on my guitars though!

Re: Gibson Historic Spec re-issue Bumblebee Caps

I feel like I've missed something!? The link is to a 10 year old forum post. It looks as though the product can't be bought anymore either - I can't find it on the Gibson website, no longer available on MusiciansFriend nor on Reverb. Definitely a shitty thing done by Gibson but I'm sure they are not...

Re: Neural DSP Quad Cortex

It looks great, and if it sounds good as well then that's another great entry to the market. However is it just me that is bothered by the fact that a high end piece of kit like this should provide an IEC kettle lead socket for universal mains rather than some horrid off-board transformer, especial...

NGD - Gibson LP Standard 50's

A Gibson LP has been on my gas list for ever and now I finally have one. Now all I need to do is learn how to play properly!
