Re: Repairing an FL-9
...and looks like we jumped the gun. After doing a bit more testing, its still stuffed. Jeremy's got it to flange for about 30 seconds, after which it fades to passing a clean signal again. So strange... but at a loss as to what to do next as he's out of ideas. Another cap is charging then discharg...

Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
Ah, the old Trinity amps. I had quite a delivery wait on my Tramp kit from them a couple of years back. Although from memory, it was about 8 weeks total wait - not as long as it is for you. I suspect that just when you are about to throw the toys, it will turn up. To compound the issue, I had actual...

Re: Show your Telecasters
Ash - I love the gloss black tele with visible grain, 3 knobs and a mini-hum in the neck. Looks like the bastard son of a Tele and a Les Paul Custom. Stealthy but classy. Please post a big pic of that.

Re: Show your Telecasters
i like the snarl of the single coil in the big bit metal bit that the three saddles sit in, but have read that this design causes really sh!tty intonation. True? Never had any issues with mine. yeah, thought so. i was leaning more toward it being a case of sh!t people say in the internet. i think i...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
That's a cool looking Tele. I like the Blonde finish on these Highway 1s. Don't usually like anything other than traditional knobs (IB:JB), but those look cool. I like the reverse control plate too. Might do that on my next Tele which, all going to plan, will be Bigsby-equipped. The Blonde finish o...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
Yeah, actually I snuck the Dremel with a (sanding wheel attached) into the control cavity to get the switch to fit. I really only shaved off 1-2mm of mostly conductive paint and just barely got into the wood before I could make it fit. After playing with it for a couple months I find I don't really ...

Re: Show Us Your Guitar
My new/old Tele. Couldn't wait to get on the bandwagon, mainly for the tone as I still find these things pretty funny to look at. 2005 Fender HW1 Body (naturally reliced) HW1 Neck (ghetto rolled edges with screwdriver shaft) Dimarzio Area T pickups (Hot in the bridge position) Joe Barden bridge and ...

Re: Easy change pickup wiring for semi-hollow.
http://www.mitre10.co.nz/Image/item/xlg/103017xlg.jpg I have used these for pickup swapping and found them a bit of a pain. The ones I had did not easily clamp down on the fine wires you normally find on 4-conductor pups e.g Duncan and Dimarzio, plus they can be a bit heavy and tend to move around ...

Re: Pickup Polygamy - a DIY tip
I've often wondered about this sort of thing, particularly as I'm such a numpty when it comes to soldering pickup leads to pots, etc. Not sure how often I'd actually use it but I like the idea of being able to swap pickups on the fly, as it were. Although, now that I think about it, it's probably n...

Pickup Polygamy - a DIY tip
If you’re anything like me, pickup swapping has become a little addictive. I justify it by telling myself this is valuable research for the pickup winding I’m getting into. Trouble is, I don’t actually spend much time winding, rather, I just end up researching pickups in the net. Anyway, here’s a li...

Good results! Can you explain the method - suspend the hardware above a dish/pot of malt vinegar? For how long? Did you also do the tuners?

Re: Refretting
I had a partial refret (15 frets I think) on a Epi Les Paul Custom from Weta and while I don't remember exactly, it was cheaper than the quotes above. I don't want to compare quality and other factors like fretwire used because I haven't actually seen the other luthiers' work, but what I am suggesti...
