Not all of them do, in fact I think its only the LTD's that have this. The serial number and model number are quite different identification indicators though..the numbers on the fretboard at the 12th fret pertain to the model of guitar (series, shape design etc) and the serial number usually found ...

+1 for the MXR 10 or 6 band, definitely worth it.
The only thing I don't like about my GE7 is that the mids seem to come through rather harshly..not sure why this is.
