Re: First amps?

Had a 10w ss practice amp, piggy brand, $80 from the trade and exchange. Playing bass through it ruined the speaker trying to keep up with a drummer.

It was rubbish, No nostalgia at all for my early gear.

Re: Jazzmaster. What to look for?

I think this is a bit of a fallacy. The fender JM/Jag vibrato is one of the most tuning stable set ups. I have zero tuning issues with any of the JMs I’ve owned or currently own. I’ve had much more issues with bigsby armed guitars. Comes down to set up and having good quality gear. I think this is ...

Re: Jazzmaster. What to look for?

Between the trem that can make tuning a little less stable, and the heavy gauge strings recommended to reduce the tuning problems, it’s hard to recommend one as a beginner guitar. They do look great though, and the Squier build quality is decent. Mine is a 70s classic vibe squier, it plays well and ...

Re: What are you learning?

Mate, a friend of mine was telling me the Guitar Mastery Method guy was leasing one of his buildings in Napier, says the dude rocked up in a brand new Lamborghini one day. They were yarning and the guy was like "yeah I'm making so much money it's hard to know what to do with it". Nice wor...

At home: https://cloudadmin.rockshop.co.nz/media/catalog/product/w/a/waza_air.png Back when I gigged on bass: DSCF0564.jpg Sadly the Ampeg is long departed. Now I have a Fender Rumble 500, which has all the thump, and none of the need for a station wagon and fear of stairs that came with the Ampeg.

Re: Offset chat

Do you think something like this might be a more cost effective solution? It might be a better all around guitar, and you might not need to upgrade pickups/bridge/wiring/trem/tuners etc? He's also got a car listed, so you could potentially negotiate a better price without fees. https://www.trademe....

Re: Show us your pedalboard

Added the TC today - I think that’s about it. I was going to go small but change my mind. The delay and trem are luxury items given that the line 6 also can do them, but they are such individually great pedals I figured if there was room I should keep them. It’s one heavy board! Nice! How many road...

Re: Show us your pedalboard

My pedalboard from 16 years ago, looking at the selection I reckon I could still gig with this pretty easily. Although a reverb has become an essential part of my tone these days, apart from that I’d be happy as! Most pre NZG story’s are more “I had a squier strat and a 15w Park amp before I came h...

Re: Offset chat

Offset Advice please! Used my Squier JM for a band practice, and it held up okay, plus we’ve got a new guitarist who is also a LP into a Marshall guy, so I enjoyed the sound of the JM not sitting in the same space. While it’s passable, and I like it, I don’t love it, So now I’m looking at either upg...

Re: Survey: PLEASE RE-VOTE How many effects pedals do you own?

Have you tried the POG-2? Obviously different kettle of fish to the SY-200, but very usable and relatively affordable.  Thanks! Have watched some demos on the POG-2 and it looks good, especially with the preset options. Might try one out on the weekend, and then it'll be wanted p...

Re: Survey: PLEASE RE-VOTE How many effects pedals do you own?

I love that your reaction to not being happy with what you own is to buy, not sell. It is the way. Tbf, I’m well covered for drives / fuzz etc, but don’t have much mod/verb/delay. I also like to have a small board for jams, and another more static board for covers gigs that doesn’t get messe...

Re: Survey: PLEASE RE-VOTE How many effects pedals do you own?

Spent some time reorganising my pedalboard last night and realised I may have an issue. Got me thinking about this thread.

Thats awesome! You guys actually look like you're enjoying it too, so that already makes it more fun than a real Tool gig ;)

I don't have the ear or patience for lots of tweaking, so started at 12pm, and didn't need to move too far from there.
