I've been looking at getting an acoustic guitar for a while now and just tried a few in the store down the road, what do people think about the Martin DX1RAE? Was my favourite out of all the ones I played but it worries me that I just read the tops of them sometimes crack due to the top being solid ...

That Squier one is a recent new model. Might be looking to flick on the Cort for $200 if you're interested. Not sure about getting it to Christchurch.
