Re: Mimiq Doubler
I use one in stereo with two heads. To be honest its pretty underwhelming. Im willing to admit it maybe because I play a 7 string through a 5150 and a triple recto so all the wonders of the pedalmight be slightly lost in all the gain and stuff....

Re: Step down transformers advice
Ive had no issues with my recent acquistion. Seems all good so far and ive never heard of any tube life issues.
Re: NA'sD
Good spotting in a shitty photo though Dayl!
Re: NA'sD
The Triaxis used to be paired with a VHT 2 90 2. That now belongs to Godgrinder. Was even more moist then. Dont really need 96 watts per side any more though....
Re: NA'sD
It wasnt an amp Id wanted in particular, but it came up at a "cant say no" price so grabbed it anyway. If youre local youre welcome to give it a hoon. (Local being wellington) It seems like there isnt a hell of a lot of them around.
Re: NA'sD
Oh also NGD. Pictured is a Japanese Ibanez K7. Like all the other rg7s but its Mahogany instead of Basswood. Found it in a Cash Convertors for not very much money. The Universe next to it has been around for a longtime and has BKP Painkillers in it. I didnt think Id find a guitar that even came clos...
NA'sD
A little bit late but figure Id post latest acquisitions, as they both pleasantly surprised me. First up, a Mesa Stiletto Deuce head. Being as this is meant to be the "Marshally" Mesa I was expecting it to be more of an 800 type thing as opposed to a high gain beast. It has all the grunt i...

Re: Preserving a 4x12
Get some of those silicone packages and replace every couple months? Might help a little bit.

Re: US powered amps-does it suck?
I deliberately bought this one because i was keen to give an older two channel model a whirl. Ive owned a 3 channel, it was all good but nothing to write home about. Just going to get sucked into internet hype and try this one. Head and cab was 2k so it was a bit of a bargain i reckon. Cheers though...

Re: US powered amps-does it suck?
By the way being the Triple Rec its a 150 watt amp. The guy i bought it off assures me he used this transformer at gigs for years though. Im just completely new to this so if there is any obvious newbie things to watch out for Id like to know them!

Re: US powered amps-does it suck?
Wow. Good info there. Thanks guys. Great story Rob! The stepdown i got is only 500 watts and it doesnt appear to have a trip, only a fuse. Its a Raggie power co. Transformer. Im going to try it at jam tonight, my next question is this- i run two amps at jams through seperate 4x12s. Given the state o...

Re: US powered amps-does it suck?
Thanks Fei. I had heard of the transformer tap but was told by someone else that because of the amps age its unlikely to have one. Boooo.

US powered amps-does it suck?
Im looking at a US amp which comes with a fairly decent (apparently) step down transformer. I generally use two amps together which is sometimes sweet and sometimes isnt....I just want to know if introducing a step down transformer into the mix is likely to cause even more hassles. Anybody chime in ...

Re: Excessive Gear Day (EGD) Thread
When you need 4 different 7 strings. IN all fairness the one on the far right was a different scale length at least
