Re: Fender classic player jazzmaster GAS
I've had one for about 5 years as my main guitar. I toyed with selling it for a little while, but I don't think I could. I've played a few MIJ/CIJ ones and an American 62 reissue and I like the CP the most. The bridge on them still isn't that great, but I've persevered with mine. It's a fine line be...

Wow. That's pretty cool. If you want to part with that Coronado pickup, flick me a PM. I have a project guitar that might suit it.

Re: Dexter mods - thoughts?
Bit late to the party, but he totally ruined a delay pedal of mine a few years ago. I wont mention the brand as it's very embarrassing, however, he did profess to being a bit of shaman with this particular model. Anyway, it come back oscillating and hissing on every setting. Brilliant. So I sent it ...

Re: PYE Radiogram - Vibrolux First project Amp
Awesome! Another old bit of music gear saved from the scrap heap. Have you checked the cab isn't infected with borer? I just scrapped one the same as it was too far gone. Mine had a Celestion Alnico speaker that was voiced for HIFI, but shared some bits with the vintage G12. Score! If it does have b...

Re: Beginner gear guidance
Slightly off topic, but I'm a little surprised at the 'if you have a multitude of effects/sounds to dial in you'll be more likely to continue with guitar' attitude. Owning lots of gadgets/guitars/amps never made anyone better at guitar. The whole GAS infliction is nothing more than a consumerist min...

Re: Beginner gear guidance
My advice would be to forget about effects/amps etc and focus on playing - sorry forumites. Your keyboard amp will be OK and your guitar is better than most guitars I've owned over the last ten years or so. Even if you weren't considering picking up an acoustic, they are pretty damn handy to have ly...

Hey Jeremy, I could be keen between my own gigs. Bass would probably be better for me, as I'm more Stephen Stills than Lee Renaldo on guitarjeremyb wrote:To start a post rock / punk band..... Anyone keen?

Flick me a PM if you want.

Re: Fractured finger
I played a gig once with two broken fingers on my picking hand. They were in plaster and you could hear them banging on my pick guard at quieter moments. Not ideal, but quite entertaining for the audience. I think I'd take a break from playing if it was my fretting hand - you'll probably be trying t...

Re: Mannix guitars????
I have a Mannix tele (gasp!) that I picked up off TM for $80.00. I actually play it a lot more than I thought I would - it's not great, or even good for that matter, but it's definitely better than you would expect for the price. It's ridiculously light, the paint is very thin, it has very low-outpu...

Re: NGD - Jazzmaster! (with in depth review)
Dude, you can play surf on the CP! Get your reverb cranking and have some fun with that thing... I've been playing some Ennio Morricone stuff with my band using mine and it suits it big time. I also use it for blues and country solos and it cuts through great without that ice-pick sound that everyon...

Re: Edit - never mind, decision made, as you were.
I'm with everyone else; you wont be happy until you buy one. Mine only puts out a bit of noise and yes, you will be able to use the middle position for noise-free good times (I use it for clean rhythm tones a bit and it sounds great)... I'm refusing to answer any additional questions about either of...

Re: Hot Cake With An HRD: Actually Pretty Cool
I use a Hot Cake with my HRD and I think it sounds pretty good; even for distorted open chords that can sound pretty bad with other stomp boxes. I had a TS10 Tube Screamer with it for a little while and much preferred the Hot Cake (not that the TS10 is necessarily indicative of a decent overdrive) ....

Re: Best Fender Jazzmaster for $2,000?
Thanks for all the help guys, I think i'll take the plunge and get the Classic Player. However, they don't seem to have them in any of the local music stores so i'll probably have to buy online. I was just browsing Musiciansfriend and noticed that they won't ship a new one but they will ship a 'use...
