Re: Cab building tips?
I wouldn't glue and nail but glue and screw will work fine. Rebate the screws so the router won't hit them. After Rounding fill up the rebates with Wood filler
Finger joints are nicer. Especially for pine but 18mm ply, yeah, screw and glue

Re: NAD: 65 Jansen 6/sixteen
I doubt the 40/40/20 is faulty. You said the amp was quiet so that means power caps are fine. The caps for the trem should be fine too. As Tony says, I would resolder the components in the trem circuit first.

Beautiful. Tone is in the old terminal strips, exposed component leads, fat earth wires and the Redfern transformers and choke.

Fretboard edges 'rolled'. Love the new feeling of this neck...

On the dining table workbench
Rounding the fretboard edges, made new bridge base from puriri. Fretboard and frets cleanup and treatment. New strings to go on with setup following.

Re: Baltic Birch ply
Have you considered checking out some demolition yards? The old inbuilt kitchens in 50s and 60s houses in NZ had good quality pine used in those kitchen cabinets. Plank width of 250 and 300mm are common, thickness would be 19mm.
You might have to remove some paint first though.

Re: Mr Glyn Minx mini-hums
You could try the DiMarzio DP240/241 but you would need to adapt a pickup ring to fit them as they are smaller than standard P90. I really like them but no idea how they compare to the Minx I checked these out, thanks for the suggestion. Also, heard a demo of Paul Gilbert playing his signature Dima...
