Re: I know what I want but I don't know....
Only a plexi will sound like a plexi :) The 1987x is probably adequate but you may want to clip the bright cap Many amps will sound close but they wont feel like a plexi, you kind of have to fight it a bit to wring the tone out due to the lowish gain. They are inspiring to play because of how dynami...

Re: Building a bias checker
You dont need a scope, you bias to a certain current limit, so tubes dont run hot thats the point. You dont bias to where the crossover notch disappears. generally the 70% rule eliminates crossover, (the point). There is plenty of data around the net for what you should bias a certain amp too as wel...

Re: Building a bias checker
Lots of old valve stuff has exactly what you are after, an octal socket with a plug extension as they used them to hookup poweramp and preamp. I have chucked mine away though :P Also you actually only need to make one bias meter because you can just swap it over and check the other tube, obviously e...

Re: Building a bias checker
The problem here is you can get a socket easily, but you need the base part too, If you rip the base off a valve you may realise its quite fiddly, What I would do is just permanently wire a 1ohm resistor between the cathode (pin eight) and ground, if the DRRI has chassis mounted sockets it will be a...

Re: Best 10 inch speakers?
The blue production is still UK only. i dont think there would be much difference if manufacturing shipped to china, probably just kept in england for the people who disdain chinese produced stuff.

Re: Jumping channels in Fender Blackface amps?
When signals are out of phase if they are perfectly identical, they would cancel each other out completly.
Generally the signal is not identical, so you get partial cancellation and a thinner sound/reduced volume.

Re: Best 10 inch speakers?
Go to eminence speakers site and listen to there clips its pretty easy to hear the difference. Brit have a chimey sorta high mids + more crunch. Could someone elaborate on the differences in brit and american speaker voicings? I get it with amps but am totally clueless with speakers. I'm quite keen ...

Re: Recommend me an amp v233.0
Sounds like you should be looking at a 10-25 watt amp, as you might know most amps sound much better with the master on 10. Look at an ac15 perhaps.

Re: 18watt.com amps
I have seen some of his work, looks good, they look to be overrated for their wattage though which can be good or bad. More iron / less copper seems to be his approach, not sure if the inductance suffers though, im sure he knows what he is doing. I may order one in the future to try.

Re: Best 10 inch speakers?
you have to decide if you want an american voiced speaker like jensen most eminence or british like celestion, that will help you narrow it down. Not many 10" british style speakers though, past or present
