I got silicon rectifier diodes in the power supply and on the cathodes of a few on my preamp tubes but haven't got beyond relays for switching duties though they are fired by BJT's so you couldn't call me a ludditious tubey.

You don't turn it on and off...you wouldn't want to!,but you get a very fair approximation of it not even being there with the guitar volume right down and the filter set the same as your own.
