Re: 110V AMP Converted to 240V...!%$##"?

Hey dude, I got my Ampeg converted a few months ago, and I have the transformer I bought from the states that I don't need anymore. Its 1000W, if you're still looking to go down that road you can have it for $100. Otherwise, remove the transformer and take it to Basil at Howick Transformers. He's wh...

Re: Guitar Insurance while gigging...

Get in touch with the Musician's Union. You have to become a member and membership fees all depend on how many hours a week you play music. For something like 10 hours a week (maybe 2 practises and a gig) you have to pay $10. I can't remember the figures exactly. And then you pay a percentage of the...

Re: Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

Alright, alright, alright. I took your advice. I called Clarry, and he put me on to Mike Diack who does solidstate amps. He rewired it all for me, and I couldn't be happier. It has more balls, and improved tone. And no more transformer. I found a whole lot of schematics and could have rewired it mys...

Re: Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

I can't imagine needing a 2nd 8x10 for my rig. The room we practice in is pretty dead so it can get a bit lost in there, but I have to turn it down a bit when we gig. Oh I don't really need one, I'd like to have to more for the novelty factor at the moment. I always wanted a huge rig when I was a l...

Re: Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

Yeah, I was looking around Talkbass.com before and searching the internet to see if there was any way I could isolate the 60Hz output but I guess I just have to live with it. I was also thinking about putting a new transformer in the Ampeg because unfortunately I don't think I own one of the many th...

Re: Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

Oh, no, don't get me wrong, I love the SVT. As for your remark on them being notorious for not having much volume, you might be right but so far it hasn't put me a foot wrong and running it through an 8x10 certainly gives it plenty of volume. I'm sure I could sort myself a replacement for the sale o...

Re: Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

I'm running an SVT 4-PRO and a SansAmp RBI rack unit. It just sucks though because my SVT is 110V 60Hz and doesn't react well with 230V 50Hz equipment when running through a sound desk. There's too much white noise and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Finally using Ampeg to its full potential!

I was reading the manual for my amp this weekend (as you do when you've got nothing else to do!) and being the man that I am when I bought the amp some 4 years ago I just turned a few knobs and got a sound I liked and left it like that. But I read something in the manual that was talking about conne...

Music Planet

Bottom line. They are shit. I had a Korg rackmount tuner which went all funny - the L.E.Ds were all working on their own, and it was telling me I was playing a note when my bass wasn't even plugged in! I found out through a friend that Music Planet is the showroom for South Pacific Distribution who ...

My old band did our 3 albums with him, we were always very happy with his work.

And he's a stand-up guy to boot.
Yeah man. If we had more money, we'd go back to him. He's really easy to work with.

Yes, I actually use it like that. I work the preamp on my bass harder than I do on the amp. It's quite a nice tone. On my bass preamp it has full treble, 3/4 bass and no midrange. I'm really not a fan of midrange. Cyclone tuner? No, it's a Korg tuner. I am trying to imagine your sound, just lots of...
