Re: Where To Buy Boutique-ish Gear?
Sweet, more options that I thought. And looking on Trade Me, there are even a few Rat 2's going on there (new).

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
Another point of interest: after fiddling with my HD500 for an hour or so, I unplugged it and plugged in the one stompbox I haven't sold: my Boss Bluesdriver 2. ...And I have to say, the sound blew away the HD500. I've spent hours with the HD trying to get sparkling clean tones from Fender and Hiwat...

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
Alright, at the risk of getting this thread back on track... I tested out Jeremyb's theory and for the most part it did work well. I compared patches with the same settings, with and without cabnets, preamp and normal models. In general, it did sound better going through my HRD's "power amp in&...

Be gentle, I'm new
I didn't know Guitar Centre shipped to NZ, that's helpful.
Rob, what exactly do you mean by different "stores" within Amazon.

Where To Buy Boutique-ish Gear?
I know this question reveals my noobishness, but here goes... I've been looking at pedals like the Pro Co Rat and Fulltone Fulldrive and OCD (among others) online, and I just can't seem to find them to buy in NZ. Every now and then one of these kinds of pedals pops up on Trademe, but that's about it...

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
I think a lot of people misuse their HD500's, and therefore don't get the best out of them in terms of the amp modelling, heres what I suggest you try: I believe the HRD has a poweramp in jack? or if it has a serial effects loop use the effects return, this is so you bypass the preamp of the HRD, s...

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
and bugger the chiropracter! This. I downsized to a 2x12 a few years back. Felt good carrying my amp head in one hand and cab in the other when loading into venues. Never really felt good when playing though  . Now I have a 4x12 which I pump a 100w Marshall head through. It's too big. It's to...

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
...thanks for the welcome :-). I'm blown away by how active this board is! Way more than the Gibson board. Yeah the HRD isn't an amazing amp but I do like the clean channel. It takes pedals well and has enough headroom for me. The dirty channel is horrible though. To be honest the metal side of thin...

Re: Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
Thanks for all the replies. My SG is a Gibson Special Faded in Cherry. I've customised it a bit with some Grover tuners and a Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck and a Custom 5 in the bridge. It's not a Standard but it does the job. :D ...Just to give a bit more context: I would love a Plexi, but using a...

Sell My HD500 For Stompboxes?
I am currently playing a Gibson SG through a Line 6 POD HD500, into the clean channel of a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The HD500 is a great multi-effects pedal, but a couple of things are making me wonder if I should sell it. First, I probably spend WAY too much time tweaking my settings, time which, if ...
