Re: Never tried a stereo rig

Been running one for a while at home. Pain in the arse live though, and my band mates are always a bit smirky when I do it....

Re: YouTube goodness

Loved this! Watched the whole hour! Fascinating! http://youtu.be/nONCCSdA9Ds What did you think when he started pouring water all over the fretboard? I was impressed up until that point. Just seemed crazy to invite water into the neck like that. Well, I figured he kind of knew what he was doing. Yo...

Yeah man. Such an economical player. Sometimes staying on one note for half a solo. Then chucks in some beautiful flash just when you need it.

Re: Rig Rundown

Tom Morello.... I love the fact that at one point he just stopped modding his guitar and worked with what he had, the same with his amp - he gave up chasing the tone and decided what he had was good enough. And his pedalboard was a lot more minimal than imagined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpY...

Re: What are you gassing for?

I've got all this nice gear in my man cave and yet all I want is to go and hang out with some mates. Play some music, moan about work, generally waste time kind of thing.

The house is OK, and I love my bubble, but I'm living in Oestrogen Manor at the moment...

Re: Strat pickups?

Fuck me, my drinking must be out of control! It should all read "CS69" - now fixed! Thanks for the heads up. All good! Nice report! I took a risk and put an order for a CS69 loaded pickguard through Stratosphere a few days back. The package is making its way overland at the mo. The dollar...

Re: Strat pickups?

Here's a brief report on my new CS69 neck verses the incumbent 57/62 neck - this is for clean tones and neck pickup only. I should mention that the 57/62's G string pole is pressed down to the height of the B string and I did the same with the CS54 (to fix that vintage stagger/wound G string imbala...

Yes, pre-slotted as well
The slot for the nut looks pretty tidy, too.

I take it you’ll be using bone?

Re: Gear that's been and gone (photo heavy lol)

Got rid of this one 'cos I didn't like the look of it. https://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--lf9Ss2Yk--/f_auto,t_large/v1571245140/yjpbe5fapu55gkzbsuzw.jpg This one was quite old so I upgraded. Sold it to someone with long, curly hair. Some metal dude that looked a bit like Sheryl Crow. https://...

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

Bear in mind that an SM57 is a dynamic mic. Dynamic mics are (generally) not as sensitive to sound pressure levels as condensers. That's one of the reasons they work so well for guitar amps. You can turn up the amp and they can handle it. YMMV Keep cracking on with recording. I spent years trying to...

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

Evn' all I'm very new to recording with a mic. I have just purchased a sm57 and a Tascam 2488 (graduated from Zoom R8) to get the juices flowing so to speak. Currently, I have the mic less than an inch from the speaker cloth and both the track slider and master slider at 0, but in order to get a si...
