Re: The Gibson Les Paul Model thread

Hey, ignore the two on the left as they're home made but the others are a 14 R9 in Sunrise Teaburst which looks more like honey burst in person and the far right is a 92 Classic Plus which is my first Gibson and I got it from Ian Morris from the Dudes so its a bit of a special one for me. Re: Kossoff's '59 LP reunited with Paul Rogers

I’m pretty sure that R9 you’re looking at is my old guitar. It’s got a great sounding neck pickup but the neck was a bit chunky for me so sold it and got a 2014 version with a smaller neck.

This is my 2014 R9. Plan was to due a pickup change but after playing it I really like it as is so its going to stay completely stock.

Sold this a few years ago but this 08 R9 was my first Gibson Custom Shop. It was good but no where near as good as my current R9.

Re: Transformer upgrades: Heyboer or Mercury Magnetics?

Yeah, I think it was a Marstran? Marstran it was indeed. There; 4 of the amp's 6 owners have now spoken. :D Who has it at the moment? Did Matt from the Rockshop own it as I brought a JTM45 from him which had been upgraded with a Marstran. Sounded pretty good when I got it but even better once KT66 ...

Re:

Exciting stuff! I need to hear a friedman in real life! I tried the rock shop's dirty shirley, it was amazing and I spent the next hour trying to get the same tones from my jtm45 but the Marshall just didn't have clarity. I tried the pink taco as well but wasn't that impressed with it, not sure why...

Re: How the f**k do I fix this?

If you glue and wrap like Gibson does it shouldn't damage the finish, as long as you use a soft material to do the wrapping.

Anyone able to bring an R9 to the Auckland fest? Curious to what all the fuss is about now. Actually I probably shouldn't play one cos I'm pretty happy with my gear right now and don't need another attack of the GAS demons.
Depending on the date I could bring my 2014 R9.
