Re: NAMM 2019

Oh man that PT15 is just what I’m after! MkV + Load + C.A.B. is great but it’s a bit of setup and heavy AF.

Re: Bass amps

In my experience if you’re not going through the PA it becomes less about the amp and more about the cabinet/s. A couple of 4x10 cabs with just about any amp over 200W is gonna move a lot of air, then leave the second 4x10 at home for gigs with a good PA

Re: Interface for laptop drums and bass for live use

I feel like only sending your average FOH engineer a stereo submix of drums to work with would probably give them heart disease. If you’re running your own mix then just whatever works best for you.

Re: Synthamasizers

I’ve never gelled with a soft synth, but then I’ve never had a proper controller to let me get hands on with one.

Re: Steely Dan

Big ups from me! A lot of their music is terrific fun to play, despite the audience clearly not being into it

Re: Synthamasizers

I’m a real fan of the Roland ROMplers, just sold my JV-1080 to move to an XP-80 (workstation keyboard with a JV-1080 in it). The expansion boards are getting pricey now but luckily I already have the two most collectable ones from back when they were about $50. Also making a start on building my own...

Re: Where did all the cheap guitars go?

You’re probably onto something with that last point. I can remember a $20 bubble gun thing being a bit of a reach in the 90s and now I see kids under 10 rocking an iPhone!

Some of those Cort models look really fun, some swish looking basses too.

Re: Surprises

My Ric has more or less killed guitar GAS for me. It does the main sound I need better than anything else, very easy and comfy to play. I like very much my little Laney VC15, but i have a sneaky feeling it's not the ultimate. love that jangle pop Ricky tone! have you tried a celestion blue? what ab...

Where did all the cheap guitars go?

Was looking around the local retailers websites for an interesting bass to replace my Jazz and thought I’d have a look at what was going in the way of value guitars. Maybe it’s rose tinted glasses but feel like 10 years ago there were a multitude of cheap guitar brands like Karina and AXL that offer...

Re: Surprises

I’ve always been surprised by how joyless I have found every strat I’ve ever played. I really want to like they because they’re so iconic, but every time I touch one it’s a disappointment
