Re: Independent unsigned label distribution solution stuff
I'd say the album or single thing is mostly a genre thing, and that on the whole bands get initial exposure through singles in most pop genres. Heaps of bands release exclusively through bandcamp and promote the release through facebook and whichever blog will post about them. Press vinyl and shippi...

Re: The new music I've been making - The Eversons
We did a song in a full on 60s girl group Phil Spector style. Haha couldn't play this one live. Check it out: http://theeversons.lilchiefrecords.com/track/make-him-cry It's on this this EP we did which is mainly other bands covering our songs. Includes Jonathan of The Brunettes, Matthew Crawley, Pri...

Re: Show us your whole setup....
I'm afraid my band isn't popular enough to have a soundguy on the payroll, so I'm at the mercy of whichever soundguy I have on the night. Most of the time it's DI'd, which is why I've got the VT amp sim pedal. I'm DI'ing a lot for recording too, or blending a mic with a DI. Just whatever works for ...

too true, while playing slide with a lion red bottle, through your jansen 75 all toob amp... Ha, if you were lucky mate. I was more likely to be spotted working the four string with both hands. You know, like a real a man. All valve goes without saying, these small modern amps just can't compete wi...

Re: Show us your whole setup....
Maybe you could tell the younger ones how they should be running their gear? People love that. Good call mate. If my ten years experience playing in the house band at the Taranaki Tavern has taught me anything, it's that you should always turn your amp up really loud on stage. That way the ladies i...

Re: Show us your whole setup....
Yeah I hear the kids are all going in for these amp sims and small amps these days. Back in my day you ran a whole band through a Bassman if you were lucky, and the blues harp player would have to make do just playing to himself. It was a simpler time, a better time.

Re: Show us your whole setup....
This is me these days. This Squire bass is all stock. I've added the covers (bridge to hold the foam mutes in, neck to rest my picking hand on) and some flatwound strings which have worn in very nicely now. Love this bass, a little proof that there are still bargains out there. Got the Jansen Bassma...

Re: Recording - the next step. Opinions wanted!
Never fall into the trap of writing to a style. Especially a radio friendly style. You will fail to impress anyone. Unless you are exceptionally good looking. To be honest, everyone I meet who says they 'don't write to a style' in fact do write to a style, and they do it badly. I think it shows qui...

Cos you can check on all of that yourself with a little google. Check out how long it took good engineers to get that good, check the fidelity of records achieving what you wanna achieve. Eeeasy
