Re: Vintage Guitar Stores

The Guy at Cadenza quoted me $1600 for a strat he had, a few weeks later I had the cash in my pocket and he wanted $600 more. similar thing happened at Bungalow. My Eddie at Cadenza experience. Some 20 odd years ago i was selling a Fender classical guitar and took it to Eddie for appraisal. He offe...

Re: Fender Stratocaster Tribute

Saw this '89 Am std needing to be rescued on trademe and had to have it. This strat had little use despite the relic look. I painted over the bare patches so as to tone down the contrast of the wood on the white and fitted a mint green pickguard... some are not so keen on the green p/g with the mapl...

Re: Gear you regret letting go of

1970 Fender C40 and of course the irreplaceable 1965 Guild Starfire. Amps...Fender Twin 130 and a Jansen 35. I have a blank where the Jansen went, which is a worry

That really is half the joy, tinkering around making subtle improvements. As you say, the changes are reversible if need be and nothing lost. I'd be chuffed with it too

Re: "Fender" Strat identification

My 2 bobs worth...guessing it's Japanese, made in '87/88 - G + 6 digits. As picked up earlier, the pocket rout; never seen an MIA strat where the pocket has been over-routed and also the headstock bottom edge is irregular. That said, they are still collectible. I guess it all comes down to how it pl...

Cheers bender, always on the lookout for another arch top too.

The Gretsch looks lovely, great condition for 50 years old. It's great how parts are so readily available today for these old guitars, whereas 30 years ago it was near impossible to find the original bibs and bobs to smarten them up.

Re: New Smelly Old Guitar Day: sound clips on pg 5

Morning all, I've been lurking for a while, signed up last week and this is my first post. This thread is a real pleasure/pain trip as it reminds me of the phase in my life when I was completely insane and sold my Starfire  This pic is from 1985. I bought it in '84 for $400 from a chap heading ...
