Re: Line6 Heeeeeelix!

I have a terrible habit of re-buying things. I now have my 3rd Helix, and 2nd LR Baggs Venue DI. Might hold onto the Helix for an extended period now, too many times when I didn't have it I was thinking 'man that'd be the ideal thing for this little gig'.

Re: Alice Cooper - Feb 2020

Recommended. Saw Alice when he opened for Crue, and he (and the band) blew them offstage. Three thumbs up, would trade again.

Re: Joe B gets another one-owner 59 burst

Good for Joe, he knows what he loves and has the means to acquire it. He’s not my bag (I’ve seen him live as my father is a fan so I took him), but he’s a very accomplished player and has a good fan base that keep him in vintage guitars and expensive hotel rooms. I think envy plays a part in ‘Joe Ha...

Re: What are you gassing for?

I have zero gas at the moment. I'm not even motivated to shed some excess gear. I'm here for the banter. I must have come down with something. Yeah it's called 'contentment' Im gassing for a speaker for my tweed deluxe, though I don't know why as it's currently in a head cab and sounds great throug...

Re: Mics for guitar cabs. What has impressed you the most?

Torpedo has really impressed me for recorded/straight to PA tone. Not the cheapest way to go but in the last few recordings we've done, the Torpedo track sounded better than then mic'd cabs for the most part, even with decent ribbons. I'm sure great mics and careful placement can exceed it of course...

Re: Yngwie Saves Fender

I wonder if Yngwie was referring to the Signature strat having a positive effect on the bottom line perhaps? He and Clapton were the first to have signature Strats (88 I think), which must have had some beneficial effect. And the only reason that sold was because of Rising Force. Overstating his han...

Re: Solid state amps. Thoughts?

I have owned a grand total of three, a Fender Deluxe 85 in the very early 90s, a Marshall Valvestate S80 in the late 90s and then finally a Katana (last year). Never enamoured enough to persist. I did have a JC-120 on loan about 20 years ago too, which while 'nice' in its own way certainly didn't ti...

Re: Top 5 electric guitars

Dot 335 Tele (most likely a Suhr T) Strat (Suhr HSS) That's about all my bases covered. Out of my current others, I'd keep the Doozy Caribou and probably the ES-137 but could actually live without them. Turns out I don't need an offset (sorry JM Jag) or all-trick pony (sorry Vox Virage)...and the re...

Not nitro, some sort of really thin auto-style paint which I can’t remember the precise details of now. I’ll ask! Saved a few mm of depth on the body and weights a noticeable amount less with the poly finish gone.
