Re: NMAD SV20H
Looks great. That piercing treble really smooths out at higher volumes, once the tubes start compressing. Otherwise you can go for a speaker with a little top-end roll-off. Creamback or similar. Yep, will put a Gold in the cab and that'll add to the overall smoothing out for sure. Love a Gold with ...

Re: NMAD SV20H
 saw Got Clarry to change the bright cap to 100pf and he changed the cathode resistor to 180R to ensure that KT66s can be used effectively(without any overheating and shortening their life). The amp now sings rather than screeches when the High Treble channel is turned up. I'm glad you've got ...

Re: '64 Cherry 335 spotted
Wisely people hold on to these old guitars, however whether new or old it's got to have a fat neck for me to think about it any more.

'64 Cherry 335 spotted
Nothing happening on this part of the forum for years so time to give it boost for '23. Yes it's a Clapton era 335 in good nick and here in Auckland City at The Guitar Gallery in Queen Street. I've not seen one as old as this around the traps for many many years, it's not on their site so a call in ...

Re: NMAD SV20H
Really starting to enjoy the amp now, different to the '74X and JTM45 as you'd expect.
Have solved the squealing occurrence and am settling into it being a handy unit to trot out around the place, all in all a bloody good little setup with a lot of character.

Re: NMAD SV20H
I know small cabs and 1x10s are a thing, they're just not my thing. Personal preference etc. Jay's Princeton excluded. That 1x12 is just perfect. You got it, the PR 1x12 and a 1974X......two of the bestest combos ever known to man 8) I don't have the Princeton! Although if Jean ever sells up... I h...

Re: NMAD SV20H
I am yet to find an amp that doesn't sound better through a 2x12 compared to a 1x10/12. I think you mean 'louder' not better. Many amps are meant to be 1x10 or 1x12 - not all sound better through more speakers. As for 4x12, yes they're lots of fun, but gone are the days of my playing through a stac...

Re: NMAD SV20H
Further to my previous post about the SV112 cab. I put my Gold in it to see if that would improve things at all however it still has the inherent problem of squealing all over the place at higher volumes, so I went with my 1936 2x12 cab and voila problem solved.........smooth as a knife through butt...

Re: NMAD SV20H
One thing is, don't use the amp with the SV112 cab as that single 12" enclosure is not great at all as I kind of expected, use a 2x12.
And...........it retails at $995, not a good look and well overpriced. A classic case of aesthetics over usefulness and efficiency.

Re: NMAD SV20H
With these 4 input Ms I tend to jump the channels and playing at high volume is not generally not the norm for me these days so relief at medium to lower volume playing is what I look for now. The Bright cap on this one is 4.7nf apparently. A 470pf/500pf might be what you are after if you blend the...
