Also confusing things is that wattage is not a measure of loudness, so the efficiency of the downstream components also makes a difference!

I suspect they are reading this, so I hope they know that they will struggle to pull the same one again in the NZ guitar community.

The issue with picking it up is putting other people at risk if it is a scam. Who knows what the bastards would do.

Yep, that's $1500 that's I'll never get back, unless the banks or police pull off a miracle. Thanks for your support all! Will post more details later re:the mechanics of the scam.

It almost certainly is. I ran a bunch of pictures through a reserve image search and checked through a bunch of used guitar dealers, but couldn't find it listed online.

Most of the higher-end Les Pauls I have seen use relatively clean-looking maple, even if it isn't highly figured. The vertical line running near the volume pots seemed unusual.
