Re: Detune pedal?
How far is he detuning the guitars? I would go up a string gauge for each semitone detuned. But I can't imagine needing to detune more than a semitone or two... Also, those detune things feel seriously weird. Something jarring about the effect and how the strings feel and vibrate. I am not a fan, an...

Very very nice.
FWIW I consider anything older than me to be vintage, so you’re correct to call it that in this case

Magnatone Twilighter: https://www.magnatoneusa.com/twilighter Went to see Big Thief last night and it was, without a doubt, the best guitar sound I've ever heard. Two cranked Magnatones is the sound of heaven. Are you sayin’ there was two x stereo Twilighters or two x mono Twilighters or two guitar...

SUMMER HUMMER - Masterton, Saturday 3 December
312510255_102745935981964_4335002092665793035_n.jpg Tomorrow, in Masterton! In its heyday Summer Hummer got crowds of 10k + which is pretty weird to think about. My band (Deluxe Edition) are playing before Tin Palace, who are awesome, and Kings, who is famous. Come along, check out the sound of cra...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Reworking for tomorrow's Summer Hummer in Masterton.
I had a Warm Audio Foxy Tone Fuzz on there but received a dud, so back it goes
Fortunately, the 'backup' ain't too shabby...maybe I won't sell it after all.

Timely, because this is on its way to me (thanks to Conway/Tone Lounge, eating into my savings since 2021)

NBDWBPP (new bass day with bonus puppy picture)
2002 USA Stingray in translucent gold, courtesy of Nev Claughton. Strung up with LaBellas, already the nicest bass I've ever played (and I've played a few).

Re: Guitar prices: what's the sweet spot?
I'd argue Apple is a good example of both tech and marketing because that all-important grandmother-friendly UX is how you appeal to the middle of the bell curve. Success is about repetition, especially getting multiple return purchasers. Apple wouldn't be worth shit if the "thing you wanted&qu...

Re: Guitar prices: what's the sweet spot?
As someone who works in a marketing-related field...answering that question is a bit like trying to get flour back out of your gravy. 'Value' is both cumulative and fluid; there's no way to separate it back into its constituent parts. There's no point at which quality and marketing are separate, IMO...

Re: Synth Chat
I used this on stage last night. Can barely play a chord on piano but decided to make my bass fill-in spot for a covers band more interesting by playing a new instrument. Truly the best noise I’ve ever made. Ran this straight into a Mesa MPulse 600 with a Markbass 410 (and PA support). It made me wa...
