As someone who works in a marketing-related field...answering that question is a bit like trying to get flour back out of your gravy. 'Value' is both cumulative and fluid; there's no way to separate it back into its constituent parts. There's no point at which quality and marketing are separate, IMO...

I find the biggest limitation of small combos is that they're almost always a single speaker. For not much more floor space (but much more coin) a Markbass or Ampeg 2x10 combo sounds way better and will perform admirably at small gigs. Single speakers always sound shite to me; it's not a volume thin...

I mostly plug into my audio interface and laptop, using the amp/cab sim on either the Origin BassRig or sometimes the Darkglass X Ultra. I’d love a little practice amp but this is truly the best way to practise along with songs and record quickly

IME, the only fuzzes that work live sound like absolute arse anywhere else. Agree with TmcB about the blend, or bi-amp/clean+dirty amps is the way to go, and especially if you’re into that heavily layered NIN sound with really nasty Brassmaster style fuzz.
