These models were both shockers when introduced. 83 Korina V and 76 Explorer LE.
They look pretty cool now.

I’d be buffing the swirls out if they’re not too deep

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please
I spray myself. I’ve rattle canned in the past to good effect though. And to do a top only, that would be easy as.

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please
Wairau Paint Centre will tint nitro and put it in a rattle can. Sit the can in a bowl of warm water before spraying. Fantastic! Do you by chance know what a can goes for? A lot of car paint dealers (LinkUp Paint for eg) will do this. But often, they wont have nitro. I purchase nitro from Versatile ...

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please
Heat guns are the best way (don't melt the binding!), but sanding is also good (but labour intensive, messy etc). Acetone will f#ck things up, ultimately. Paint stripper works too, but requires a really good rinse in meths afterwards, which is logistically challenging. Hmmm, when you stain wood, and...

Going back to 5751’s, they’re a magic tube in the right position. I’ve cooled down many a hot headed amp with these, and not just in preamp - phase inverters also.

Re: Les Paul Refinish Advice Please
Heat guns work well on LPs and SGs.
Vintage LPs did not have stained wood. Only the clear was tinted (cherry for back etc, and the burst colors red, brown etc).
I used a dark brown wood filler on my Jnr. Added water to make it squeeze-able!

Re: Spraying a burst (my first attempt)
Nice work. When I was researching my own burst, the old videos showed them spraying from the outside in. So you have confirmed it can be done either way which is good to know.
The colour is on point.

Re: Spraying a burst (my first attempt)
Had my first attempt at spraying a burst today and although not perfect (couple of runs etc) the look is certainly what I had hoped for. I was going for a faded lemon/honey burst type look. Not a huge fan of red in bursts, I much prefer the faded 58 almost plain top look. Back when they used Anilin...

Re: NGD: Gibson CS R6 Goldtop heavy aged
Thinking of doing a demo of this Any tips on how best to structure the video ? My thoughts… Four stages of gain…clean, slight hair, overdriven, distorted Barre chords, open chords, leady type twiddles, a small looped original piece with some overlay. No effects other than say a touch of verb.

Re: Baltic Birch ply
OK, necro thread.
What are using these days for cabinets? I have always just used pine or Mitre10 ply and had no issues with either. Pine is now so expensive, I’m considering ply again.
Is void free birch available? Does anyone have anything strong against normal ply?

That's a pretty low level of dumb thing...don't beat yourself up too much. I was expecting something like, got caught with a stash, at my neighbour's house, nude, covered in peanut butter type scenario. I told you that in confidence Grant!!! The fact that you were live streaming it your subscribers...
