Re: Leather ….
Cut to the chase….anybody ever used or heard of using genuine leather as a substitute for tolex??? Just got rid of an old leather lounge suite as the frame was fudged but decided to strip off a fair hunk of the leather which was in ok condition. Considering using some to cover an amp headshell. Is ...

Re: Leather ….
My Greenstone of Doom is covered in leather. Looks awesome, but is a lot more susceptible to damage than tolex, one of my old cats thought it would make a great scratch post, I suspect it wouldn't have shown up anywhere near as much on tolex (if at all). So do you have something covered in catskin ...

Pretty much all of the guitars, amps and pedals people on here fuss over.

Re: Yamaha FG's
Paul Urbana Jones used one for years until he got his first D28 and that man could hit a guitar! My brother had guitar lessons from Paul, he was as intense with his teaching as he is with his playing, my brother had a few absolute bollockings off him for not practicing. Nothing physical, bar a few ...

Re: NAD: Valvestate for the Win!
You wouldn't have. The band my band in the UK befriended used them, they had crushing tone. We were their default support for any gig, we had a pair of block letter 5150s and didn't show them up.

Re: YouTube goodness
Eric Gales is a motherfucker. This is 10min well spent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx5Zvi8K1vk I was enjoying that, thinking his sense of timing was impeccable, his sense of melody incredible and his ability to just make music with his guitar on another level. Then I finally noticed his right ...

Re: Nuno Bettencourt is on an Absolute Tear!
Nuno's Schizophonic album is massively under appreciated, some great stuff on there. I have to say I'm not in the same camp, for the new stuff I find Nuno's riffs are all a bit pub rock and his solos lack the incredible sense of melody he has shown in the past. Rise I quite like, but the other two s...

Re: New Metallica
I'm not the worlds biggest Metallica fan, they passed me by a fair bit due to my preference for the music that influenced them, however I've grown to like them over the years. I liked the first singles teased out from this new album and gave the album a couple of listens to from Spotify when it was...

Re: Strat Help
Current playing an 87 Japanese made Squier and it's a mean guitar. Slight note to add to this, there is an 80's production period of these Japanese Squiers that have a reputation of being way better than they should be. Having played an 80's Japanese Squier that was absolutely sublime and one of my...

Re: Marshall Amps Sold To Swedish Speaker Company
I contend they haven’t made a good amp since the JCM800 so whatever happens can only be good The Astoria series were genuinely new, and are fantastic. Steve Dawson the designer did leave Marshall after they were released which was a shame. Marshall seem to be quite a cool company, the other guitari...
