Yeah it seems like a waste, but I just like the tone around there.

Unpotted Custombucker Alnico III. They're really articulate - the note definition is there. There's just no mud there, although I don't use much gain on my amp (gain under 2 on the amp).

The neck is my favorite feature of that guitar. The neck profile is unique to the '64 (and '65). It's very '59ish at the nut, but it thickens up from around the 9th fret upwards.
