Re: What are you gassing for?

I'm gassing for a 12 string electric. There are 3-4 songs in our Springsteen show that should be played on a 12 but I don't have one! Of course I want a Ric, but I've been looking at other options. I'm considering a Dano 12 as I like the sound and they are pretty affordable, although to be honest t...

Re: Studio Build 2019. Grange Studio v2.0

From that ^ to this. Two layers of Braceline/Noise Gib on the ceiling last night and I started putting up the first wall layer this morning. Unfortunately I have to wait to finish the other two walls because we have to build the timber window and door frames first. And I am frustratingly just short ...

Here's a photo of the progress with the framing from earlier last week. We're starting to line the walls with the first layer of Gib tomorrow

Re: Studio Build 2019. Grange Studio v2.0

Cheers Molly. Yeah, I’ve watched PT’s one and numerous others too! It’s always interesting seeing how others have gone about it. Basically the design we’re using is a sort of amalgamation of common ideas, and then ideas we’ve sort of thrown around over the years from a couple of previous builds we’v...

Re: Studio Build 2019. Grange Studio v2.0

Framing is just about finished. We've got a 10mm gap between the outside of the new frame and the existing walls right around the room. We've gone with less clearance above the rafters because we're trying to retain as much height as possible  Second door frame and the interior room's windo...

Re: Studio Build 2019. Grange Studio v2.0

Cool. I did a room within a room and then sold the house. One thing I learned was that a lot of people wreck the sound tightness by cutting in light fittings and electrical sockets after they've gone to all the effort of room-within-a-room. Ideally most stuff is surface mounted. Absolutely. It’s th...

Re: Studio Build 2019. Grange Studio v2.0

Sweet! I helped a friend do something similar in his garage for recording... It's quite a lot of work! Ideal man cave tho :) Nice! Yeah, I helped Matt build one years ago which he sold, and then I converted a carport at our last house, so we’ve been accumulating ideas of how best to do things with ...
