Re: The Jakob Thread
So for people who are into instrumental post rock, what does Jackob bring to the table that's their own? Indescribable brilliance. I've seen 100 piece orchestras playing huge pieces and never coming close to the monolithic sound Jakob creates with 3 dudes... MogwaiBoy's post is quite good, get's a ...

Re: The Jakob Thread
Delays are only part of it really. I've put a lot of time into trying to figure out Jeffs sound and to be frank I just discover more and more a huge amount of that sound is in his technique. A lot of really delicate and intricate playing, note choices, etc.

Re: Metallica plays NZ in Nov
Saw them at the BDO 2004. Would possibly go see them again, considering last time I was in the stands I wouldn't mind getting in the pit for some of the old thrasher numbers...

Re: AXE-FX + Atomic Reactor
Hurro fellas. Yais, I haz AxeFX Ultra as stated, and I loves it muchly. It is a pretty phenomenal all-in-one package. Enormously flexible and scarily realistic sounding. I think the main argument that comes up with it when comparisons are made is how close to the valve amps it 'models' it actually s...

Re: Devin Townsend roll call
I actually got the tech rider/mix sheet from the mixing desk after the show. Dev was running 3 DI signals. Assuming its a dry and a left and right wet signal if previous rigs of his are anything to go by. Yep, AxeFX Ultra. Saw Mothra, considering I was front row centre more or less I saw everything ...

Re: Devin Townsend roll call
By far the very best gig i've ever been to. Was the first punter there at 5pm to get front row/centre, stuck around afterwards and got lots of stuff signed/photos/etc... Oliver is a very happy fanboy. Well worth the 8 year wait to see this bloke live.

Rad, good to hear you're coming along Phil!
If anyone want's to find me I'll be front row center. Been waiting nigh on 7 years for this day to come.

Re: Concept albums
I think that an 'album' should generally be a tight cohesive set of tunes that do link up one way or another. As far as the 'concept album' title goes, I don't think there necessarily has to be any 'concept' behind it. It's ironic that Thick As A Brick was actually made out to be a big conceptual pi...
