Re: Boss 200 Series Pedals
That eq looks the biz! Love what a good eq in the loop can do to ya tone You'll be able to use this before the amp AND in the loop - simultaneously with completely different settings! Hey Ed, any idea when the EQ 200 will be available for purchase in NZ? Sadly, they've been a little delayed...

Re: Humbuckers and coiltaps
1) Different pickups are engineered differently. Some have identically wound coils, some have different (i.e. "mismatched" or "assymetric"....or if you are DiMarzio: "Dual Resonance") coils. Some have drastically different coils (which will sound very different indeed f...

Thoughts on Solid State amps?
I own a SLO, which I love dearly, but would much rather take my Katana to the gig.

Re: Any "forever" amps?
Absolutely killer and often overlooked amp. One of my all time favs over the years. Any other over-looked amps in your opinion? Roland Jazz Chorus for me. Mmmm... I wouldn't call Roland JC overlooked. That amp already has "legendary" status, has been in constant production for 40 years, a...

Re: Any "forever" amps?
All Katanas are relatively great, but be sure to try either the Katana Artist or the Katana Head with a top quality cab to really get to understand it.GrantB wrote:I need to have another fang on a Katana.

Re: Any "forever" amps?
After being a Fender/Marshall guy for a long time, I made an impulse purchase of a Mesa Rectoverb 50W combo a few years back. Series 2, quite old (and a bit beat-up) now but all stock parts. This thing has absolutely blown me away. I am playing clean 99% of the time, and the definition and clarity ...

Re: NAD - Soldano SLO100
Congrats on the SLO!!! They are keepers indeed. I still have mine, though it's been retired from active duty. It's been replaced in my gigging life by a BOSS Katana (yes really), but the SLO is in the studio here at the office and often gets a good (loud) workout at the end of the day after everyon...

Re: Volume pot? Where in Auckland?
The DiMarzio pots are CTS, but not a simple rebrand. They are built to DiMarzio's specific taper spec. They are great and regularly in stock at Rockshop.

Re: Which PRS custom 24?
First one looks way better to my eye, but maple neck on a CU24 is a weirdness I'm not certain I'd appreciate.
I'd bet my bottom dollar that as a player, the second one would be more magic.
I agree with mrmofo also, that it is a VERY unremarkable 10-top.

Re: What's the Custom Shop Difference?
There was a Custom Classic strat that came through the Rockshop in about 2009. Plain black and rosewood, relatively reasonably priced at about $3800. That guitar was hands down the finest Fender instrument I have ever played. If I ever see it again, I'm not letting it out of my sight. HA! I remembe...

Re: Attenuating circumstances
I've just bought a green THD hotplate ex trademe, thought it might be a good thing to tame my monsters. However I see they vary in impedance, this one rated at 2.7 ohms. I've got a combo plexi (jmp50) running 1x 16ohm speaker. What's gonna happen here? Who knows this might be one of you guys had it...

Re: Clone pedals taken to another level?
It may come as no surprise to learn that innovation is expensive. Good ideas rarely pop out of nowhere. Whether it comes from one dude in his garage, or a corporate team of designers.....there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into any original design. There's a lot of time, equipment, mate...
