I like rosewood from both a playing and building point of view. Rosewood really is a magical wonder wood. You can hear how musical it is when you pick up a blank fingerboard or bridge peice. That's probably why the good stuff is so rare now. Maple definetly has something going for it, but its a pain...

I made my first two or three amps out of kits and intercoms. I still have one of them. No fond memories there... My first 'real' guitar amp was a Gunn Classic 100 2x12 combo. It weighed a ton and always sounded clean, so I set to it with the soldering iron to 'Marshallise' it. It was a little better...
