Re: If i was going to buy a bass

I’ll just add to be slightly wary of part-o-casters. Even with good parts, some people forget about correct string lengths between models and intonation problems can arise.

Re: If i was going to buy a bass

No surprises that I’m a Fender bass man all the way, but I would caution anyone against buying a JP90 Fender. I had one: gorgeous neck, which is what made me shell out, but even though I tried every change known to man on it (pickups, pots, strings, etc) I could never get that Fender sound that I lo...

Re: String gauge - does size matter?

Being an old fart and only playing guitar part-time, I have to go for light gauge. Thus I use 9s mostly and also flat wounds.

Excellent post!
To me, main advantage of class D is weight.
Weight is very important when you’re 200 years old.

Re: Strat pickups?

If I was you. I'd think about the amp(s) you're using now and work backwards from there. You want something that matches with the amount of 'juice' you give the amp to make it overdrive at the point you like it. Think about what guitars/pickup combinations work the best now? If those combinations a...

Re: Work in progress...

I’m enjoying my Sunday night tv fest with Brian Johnson and tonight it’s Mark Knopfler. It’s interesting to me hearing these two old farts talking about the same music I listened to in my youth, then I realised - they’re both around my age, so of course we share musical heritage. I know they’re old ...

Re: Need help identifying how serious neck crack is.

A long auger drill and a bit of rebar smothered in glue chucked in the hole and it's all sorted!
