Re: Action...
I like mine set to 2mm for all strings and the ATK300 is set to just that. I play with pick mostly and like to dig in and get slap and string percussive noise. Feels right to me, certainly would not go higher for how I like it.

Re: What's on your work bench?
Aria Bass back on the work bench today. Lowered the action yesterday and it highlighted a couple of nasty dead spots. Off with the neck so I could give it a dressing. Something uniquely satisfying about lovely shiny frets! You going for rounds or flats? I am looking at changing to flats, as the bas...

Re: What's on your work bench?
Been clearing projects away to finally get into winding some pickups with my winder. These are single pole bobbins with a dummy coil. I expect to make a few mistakes along the way and probs waste some wire in the process. Just getting my head around polarity, winding direction etc at the moment and ...

Re: Bass effects!
Drive is Marshall Guvnor and I blend this in with a Boss LS-2 to preserve the bottom end and get the dirt I need. Its not the best but does the job without messing up the bottom end tone. I don't use this that much tbh, I have a H&K QC-415 which also has a girt control also. One day when I grow ...

Re: Bass effects!
My chain is Compressor-Overdrive-tuner, although I use the overdrive little. Active eq on the my bass is more important for shaping.

Re: Educate me on Vocal Harmonisers.
I use a TC Helicon XT Harmony, it has a number of presets you can fiddle with. It's good unit and has a nice preamp for the voice with some compression and eq, you do need to feed an instrument into it for the unit to track your key (essential). I don't use this in the context where there are people...

Re: What's on your work bench?
Just finished the work on this Hofner Senator 53 for a mate. Fret level, crown and polish, bridge contouring and tail piece repair. general clean & setup. Has a great vibe and quite bright sounding. At some point its its life it lost the pick guard and a pickup was installed. https://live.static...

Re: Bass guitar Pickguard pickup for backbeat
Thanks doing that already, I am looking for a sound with a different timbre that be controlled independently.Eruera wrote:Could also try muting all the strings with your left hand and literally slapping the whole lot with your right.
