Re: Pedals Of Epicness
New Strymon Reverb pedal out https://www.premierguitar.com/news/strymon-cloudburst Wow, I stumbled on this video of it on my youtube home page and got totally sucked into it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzYeR2xkgyE I'm not usually one to love these sort of things, but for about 90% of this video...
Re: Box Sets
There's kind of two big eras for Marillion, 1) With Fish 2) With Steve Hogarth I'm a massive Fish era fan and less obsessive about the other stuff, but I do listen to it. I'm not fanatical about this, so what I say here could be considered heresy, but I'll go with it. There are four studio albums in...

Re: On the Hunt for a Stool
Thinking from an engineering perspective, if you just want a bit of bum support to lean/perch on to give some stability to your left leg while your right leg is off the ground working the peddles you're biggest issue is likely to be guaranteed stability and not skudding off backwards when you lean i...

Re: In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50
OK replayed the album and it was reasonably OK, not as inpenetrable as I was worried/recalled.
I'll give it another listen in a few days and see how it feels on a repeat when it's still a bit fresh in memory.

Re: In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50
I really want to love this album because apparently it's really important in the scheme of things, unfortunately I've kind of bounced off it the times I've tried.
Maybe I'll give it a go a little later after the Deep House playlist I'm listening to has finished.

Re: Box Sets
I think my favorite box sets are the recent box set of the first four Marillion albums. I’ve got the vinyl sets and the cd sets. A really strong remaster of the original, a collection of b sides and other great stuff and an unheard live show. All on 4 vinyl discs with a lovely glossy booklet with pl...
Re: Box Sets
Yeah both those are brilliant. Bought when I’d buy tons of CDs every month. No idea where I got the money!!
Love the velvet cover on the Hendrix one

Re: Box Sets
ZZ Top – The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990 (the LP mixes on CD make the CD mixes sound like garbage) That would be worth hunting down. The cd mixes are terrible, no dynamic’s compared to the vinyl mastering. I’ve found a few album digitizations and they’re way better especially the first few alb...

Re: Gear auction today
I just can't see past that a poor dude has died, leaving his sweet gear behind 😢 R.I.P I couldn't get past the feeling that ultimately this is where all my crap will end up. I might streamline it a bit to reduce the burden. Feel the same way about my tools. They've taken forever to accumulate and a...

Re: Christchurch Dec 3rd 2022
there was a great collection of chorus pedals on display yesterday, I was very taken by JBs Juno one, that was interesting.
I also loved the solid sound from that Big Muff! I'm not an expert in Fuzz sounds but I did like that one

THE BOX BROWNIE!!!!! Explain the Box Brownie? https://www.nzguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=40276&p=936945&hilit=ruby+amp#p936945 I made a little Ruby 9V amp and stuck it into an old box brownie. 1-Watt of raw power ! Volume and Gain. Has a tiny little raspy speaker in it. But al...

Re: Christchurch Dec 3rd 2022
I’ll let Andrew tell the story of the Box Brownie, which had the awesome original leather carry case. I’ve just remembered one of the impressive cruel parts from the afternoon. Cory and James started jamming on a couple of my guitars, it wasn’t quite happening but they persisted, then I remembered I...
