Re: The Black River Drive thread.

ADSJFKJDA.

Two gigs and extra practice during the week meant too many late nights for my immune system it seems. Probably won't make it tonight :( Some of the other This Flight Tonight guys might come, though.

Re: The Black River Drive thread.

why yes! We're playing with Autozamm and Shotgun Alley at The Ferguson (Albany uni campus) on Friday 16th April. Should be a monster.
I'll try to make it to this one as promised :)

Re: ThisFlightTonight.com - Gigs in April

Electronic kit for the win. No chance we would have managed that with a real kit. And that's pretty much a wrap for April. We get to play 4 acoustic songs during a covers band's smoke break on Thursday, and another private function... nothing I'd recommend a forumite go out of their way to attend. W...

Re: The Black River Drive thread.

Gotta say I really respect your drive and commitment for self funding it all, and getting the exposure you've managed to get all on your own. 8)

Re: McCartys & Bareknuckles

It was his recommendation that led me to try them in fact.
Was it for the same reasons, Sam? I've been trying to figure out if there is something wrong with the one I got.

Re: McCartys & Bareknuckles

To offer the other side of things, I put a Crawler into the bridge position of my essentially prs cu24 copy, but with an ebony neck.

I've found it to be thin and harsh sounding. It has a nice 3D chime, but distorted really just doesn't sound great.

Re: Blog River Drive

I guess it just seems like a tin pan alley approach and/or attitude to the creative process and/or artistic expression. This is pretty much what it is to be in a signed band, your songs have to be 'approved' by the producer to get on the album, so being prolific is very important. Whatever is appro...

Re: Suggested learning? - Bass technique

I'd suggest listening to lots of Nick Seymour's playing (Crowded House). B-sides, not just the hits. The Cure. The Smiths - Andy Rourke is a genius. They all have songs that ride on a really dynamic, melodic bassline with catchy fills and cool stuff. You might have to dig to find the songs that are...

I could be keen too, add some 90's mesa and-or 70's Bassman to the party...

But really just to hear amps I can only dream of affording.

Re: What would you do?

Haha yeah - no. Unless he's an even worse gear fiend than you I'd say he's pretty set, his rig was nice . The only other thing I could add to the discussion is that you said you'd like the sound to still be organic. That could mean a couple different things to me. Not crazily compressed and re...
