Re: Price of Floyd restring?
Sure, restringing a floyd isn't too hard, but it's when you need to adjust the balance of the bridge and spring tensions - that's when I go a little cross eyed. I heard a story that Richie Sambora once restrung his guitar on the side of the stage during some concert in the Ukraine (goodness knows wh...

Re: Price of Floyd restring?
I used to use stainless steel strings ... I could get feedback (start of Foxy Lady, start of Vaseline and something by Bush) just so beautifully with them. They were a bit harsher but I loved 'em.
Second fretters were easier too.

Re: Who makes the best guitar cables?
Ah, you guys make me laugh. You're all as patently mad as I am. Pick Elves? That's brilliant. I buy picks in a bag (large red Jazz IIIs) ... they are found in every room of my house, except the guitar room. Getting back to an early post - we wouldn't warranty anything bought from another shop or cou...

Re: afterwork boredom
I be quite bad at tab, but I will have a go. Essentially, -chuck your index finger on 15th fret high e string (G) BUT barre across to the B string as well. -chuck your ring finger on the 18th fret (this goes over to the B string as well) -chuck your pinky on the 20th fret then all you do is tap the ...

Re: Price of Floyd restring?
Hi, The price varies per branch as most of the time we use independant guitar techs/luthiers to do guitar work. In ChCh (for example) it's easier and sometimes faster to get our off-site tech to do it. There is only one staff member here that I trust to do a floyd restring/setup and that isn't me - ...

Re: Who makes the best guitar cables?
Yep, I am happily sold on Planet Waves cables as well. I have heard (and some of the staff here agree) that they always break down, but I think when we checked once across the land, we had something like 1000 sales and 22 returns ... it was something like that. I played with one 20ft PW Classic cabl...

if you can bend and fingertap, you can play that solo. it's actually remarkably easy. I taught it to a 12 yr old yesterday. the lil snot had it cleaner than me in about 10mins.
last time i teach him anything

hey there, thanks for that.
i don't really know that they'd call themselves. i referred to it as industrialist german electronica ... i think they were aiming for a nightwish, lacuna coil, within temptation sort of thing.

Re: afterwork boredom
Since Ironbird shared, thought I might too. The band is a german band that broke up a couple of years back beacuse they couldn't get signed. I liked one of the songs and suggested that it needed a hotter guitar line and a solo that smoked, so I added one and sent it back to them. Everyone in the ban...

Re: Behringer Pedals
you know if we dropped the n out of tone suck ... they board may get banned, so everyone be very careful. :) I had the UC100 Behringer Chorus pedal and it did the job just fine for me. I didn't like the lack of travel on the HellBabe Wah, I just couldn't get used to even after two sets. I went back ...

Re: Beneath the Silence - Teen Metalcore on Breakfast TV
Lorraine Barry is an industry back-scene stalwart for many years. She's also Dave Dobbyn's agent. She's a pretty neat woman and very handy to have her on your side if you are an up and coming band. You probably haven't heard of her because she's usually a behind-the-scenes person.
