Re: Soldano SLO 100 MK2
Part of me wants a SLO mk2 because it addresses the main issue I have with the original....the goddam awful FX loop. But a bigger part of me loves my SLO original way too much to change.....I've been using it recently along with a Boss WAZA-TAE which, amongst other benefits, renders the amp's FX loo...

Re: Custom made but not that nice
Here's my "blank paper" custom from the ESP Custom Shop. Was a pretty fun exercise to go through for myself, and the finished product has been my main gigging guitar ever since.. Nice! What are the specs? The main ingredients are pretty standard and obvious: Alder body, maple neck , RW bo...

Re: Custom made but not that nice
TL:DR 'Custom' guitars share the same opportunity/threat; a blank sheet of paper. Here's my "blank paper" custom from the ESP Custom Shop. Was a pretty fun exercise to go through for myself, and the finished product has been my main gigging guitar ever since.. https://scontent.fsyd3-1.fna...

Re: Strat comparisons
USA has MAP pricing, which greatly helps to keep the advertised prices at a (relatively) profitable level. Is MAP pricing anti-competitive? Some would say yes. Whatever your thoughts, it's legal in USA and completely illegal in UK, AU, NZ etc. It should be noted of course that MAP is Minimum Advert...

Re: Strat comparisons
It's definitely cheaper buying some gear from the UK at the moment, which is very odd... The UK/Europe market is brutal these days. The big players are so busy price competing that the margins have been driven down to wafer thin levels. The only guys that can actually AFFORD to do this are the big ...

Re: New Guitar Expectations...
any 'new' instrument, even old stock I'd expect to have a reasonable set of strings and a reasonable setup, aka, sold in playable condition. high end or expensive instrument I'd really expect the store to supply new, high quality strings and a setup to your preference. I agree with the above, with ...

Re: "Balanced" speaker for 1x12 combo amp? Closed back
Mesa C90 is a GREAT choice for a "jack of all trades" speaker. Highly recommendable. You can often pick them up pretty cheap on the used market. Also FYI, the C90 and the Classic Lead 80 are essentially the same spec speaker, though the C90 adds a vent through the magnet to achieve a sligh...

Re: Learn me on P-90 Pickups
Pickups DO vary wildly, and P90's are no exception. IME, many, many P90's go too much for "fat" and end up "bloated". In my opinion, the Epiphone P90's in the past were godawful. I have no idea what the current ones are like. My fave P90's are just vanilla ol' Gibson P90's...I li...

Re: EAT SHIT YOU TUBE AMP LOVING WANKERS!!!!
The fact that Katana feels extremely tubey is one of the biggest reasons I've chosen to gig it over the last few years. Regardless of whether I work for Roland/BOSS or not.....tone/feel is everything to me, and if Katana wasn't straight up awesome, I wouldn't be playing it. Fractal gear feels great...

Re: EAT SHIT YOU TUBE AMP LOVING WANKERS!!!!
In other news, I'm actually currently considering a move back to the SLO for gigging once this whole Covid thing winds down. I'm really very happy with the Katana, but I've been missing the SLO "thing" recently....it really does have it's own thing going on. (plus I feel cool when I'm play...

Or you just get a GOMIXER and record everything direct into your phone as you are shooting (no syncing required)

Re: Jam Along Backing Tracks!! - NEW TRACK UP (20/4/20)
You could play the youtube track on your phone into the aux in of the katana and use the katana direct to reaper, altho' not sure if the aux gets mixed in with the guitar via usb?!?? Matt? Ed? I'm actually not sure....though i THINK that it does. *edit* actually, maybe the Aux In DOESN'T go out the...

Re: Jam Along Backing Tracks!! - NEW TRACK UP (20/4/20)
How are you guys playing along and recording yourselves at the same time? Any tips if I actually manage to ditch the kids long enough to have a go? I'm using a Roland GOMIXER PRO to combine the backing track off my computer and a direct out from the Katana to both go directly into my iphone as I'm ...
