Re: 100w MV amps

Danger Mouse wrote:Both my old 5150s made perfectly acceptable high gain noises at just over 1 on the MV. I just dialed in loads of pre-amp gain (which got dialed back the more the MV was increased).
This ^.
I was never happy with a recto at bedroom volume. The 5150 sounded pretty good though.

AxeFx Legato 100 (Vai's Legacy Amp), demo.

Did a quick demo with the new Legato 100 model on the naked backing track from Vai. The Legato 100 is apparently model made directly from Steve Vai's Legacy Both Rhythm and Lead guitars done on my Ormsby SX GTR. For just a really quick patch, I think it's surprising accurate. Wants a little more tim...

Re: Fractal Audio Systems thread

I'll join in now too.
I did a tone demo on my AxeFx II when I was preparing for some shows, really happy with how full and accurate these tones were.

Re: Garageband / Home Studio Quandry

What are you looking at recording for? Just demos for your own use, or are you expecting to do some tracking which you send to your engineer/producer?

Or are you thinking of the full process where you expect to record everything and release to public?

Re: Can anyone recommend a good wood stain?

Good luck with the ebony stain. If you do find a good one, please let me know. I've tried several and they all end to come up slightly green looking.

Well, it was actually a few days ago now. But I finally got around to posting. Something a bit different. New Ormsby SX GTR day. This is the first 'production' run from Oz based guitar builder (damn word filter) Perry Ormsby. I decided to jump on the run when it was first advertised, it sold out wit...

Re: Lest we forget...

I had this same revelation a while back. I sold off all but my main two guitars. GAS, still creeps in, but I do my best to fend it off again. It has done wonders for my writing, now instead of thinking that the next guitar or bit of gear is going to somehow give me magical powers to come up with the...

Re: Is this wrong?..

Without a doubt that's a great pairing.
Didn't like the Bogner, fair enough. Doesn't mean it's not a great amp or anything.
There's nothing saying (apart from bg) that a Bogner is a better amp than a Mesa. They sound different and if you like the mesa sound more then....
