Queen B & The Nobles - Wairarapa gigs in March
Hey folks! My soul/funk band Queen B & The Nobles will be hitting the stage twice in March. It'd be great to see/meet any NZG members in person, and both events are totally worth the trip from Wellington/Manawatu! (Maybe even Hawkes Bay. I can't be sure.) Especially if you like wine and gin. And...

Re: What are you gassing for?
I’m quite keen on the new EB flatwound guitar strings. Not sure when or whether they will land here though…

Re: Wireless
I play with someone who insists on using a wireless system and I have violent murder fantasies as a result. It’s not just the notable sound quality drop, the constant technical problems or the fact it’s never got enough battery. It’s because wireless also turns one into a showboating fool. But…that’...

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
I'd quite like the CTM-300 to be honest. I miss tubes. Plus I'm having some issues with the Markbass...I posted this over at Talkbass, but maybe one of the bass heads here can help: My Markbass Little Mark Vintage (Gold Line) has a weird intermittent fault where it powers up, then immediately seems ...

TONIGHT: Deluxe Edition @ The Top Pub Greytown
Whoops, very late notice   Any Wairarapa folk, come on down to the Top Pub tonight! We have somehow squeezed five of us on stage, so you’ll be treated to a twin guitar setup with tasty amps and pedals galore… Plus, the Top Pub is being assessed for noise after the never-ending shit show ...

Re: Show us your pedalboard
Compressed my board down to a 'bare minimum' for a tiny stage, though I'd love to (a) have the Simplifier hidden somewhere since it's just for DI, and (b) swap the current fuzz(face) for a brighter Tone Bender or something. I like the smaller board, but my size 13s make a hash of hitting the right b...

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
I've been learning this - a really good exercise for decoupling left and right hands while keeping a strong rhythm.

Re: Anyone like bass guitars?
Had a lot of fun with both fingerstyle AND plectrum on Saturday night. Last minute fill-in for an injured player...fortunately, I knew most of the songs on guitar so it wasn't too much to learn in four days. Probably the loudest I've ever run the Markbass + Origin Bassrig combo. It necessitated earp...

Re: Looking for a valve bass head
There's a Mesa Venture, 600w for sale in New Plymouth. Head, 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. I was in a band with the man, now deceased, that owned it. Sounds absolutely killer. His son wants 2.5k. I’ve had two versions of that head (and in fact have that version currently) and also owned a cab like that 4x10 ...

Don't even get me started! It's a travesty, and the hearing was an absolute sham - though hopefully commonsense prevails.sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 1:17 pm Only 2mins down the road from me, I have heard about the noise complaint debacle too.
Hopefully you make it - come and say hello if you do.

Deluxe Edition at the Top Pub (Greytown, Wairarapa)
DXE at the Top Pub.png Alright you rural sods, we're finally playing again! Pub covers featuring Gibson, Mesa, Gretsch, Reverend, Supro and Fender. Plus some songs. For a bit of extra saucy background, the Top Pub has been in a years-long, protracted battle with a single serial complainer who has m...

Re: Gear That Everybody Seems To Love But You Don't
I can't vibe with - Compressor Pedals as an always on type thing. I love them as an obvious effect and always use one with my 12 string, but I've had some really nice compressors, and I turn them off and think . . ah, that's better. Funny you say that, cos I've found that my Cali76 spends more time...

Re: Strings to balance filtertrons ?
I highly recommend contacting Stringjoy and using their string finder service. I found them really helpful and knowledgeable. I was buying direct from them but Covid shipping delays killed it; fortunately Toneology stock my main set.
