I'm going to a gig at San Fran tonight but I might try and stop by, I think there is an amp provided? I don't know what their policy is on BYO Amps. I'd just take a gat and go nuts!

Re: Jam nite at the Bristol
I hear ya Rob - but I just wouldn't feel right about going nuts on someone else's amp - specially if its a RI-something amp on loan from the rockshop. I anticipate pressure on my mojo from some caretaker guy standing over my shoulder trying to stop me from diming it or something - like when you go into the rockshop and somebody hovers around you making sure you behave yourself etc. So I was thinking of carting one of my own amps along

Who cares. Lower Hutt rockshop are providing the amp I think. If you provide an amp for the jam night I'm sure they've full thought about all the 'what ifs' that might happen.
And to be honest Pete I think you're the least of their worries! It'll probably be a Hybrid marshall valvestate or something

Or if you want to see some wicked jams, come to San Fran Bathhouse, 5 bands for 5 bucks. All made up of music tutors from Whitireia Polytech. Gonna be a fun night for sure.

Re: Jam nite at the Bristol
barrel of laughs - I took my tremblelux and standalone reverb unit, and after my set, Dougal Spier walked up to me with a big grin on his face and said it was the best amp he'd ever heard, and he wanted one etc (GAS attack), so I let him play a couple of songs on it at the end after I finished and he was having such a good time I almost felt bad about having to take it off him so I could get home, and now he wants me to build him one. (Anyway that could just've been the beer talking - We'll see)robnobcorncob wrote:How'd it go Pete?

LOL... that's Doog's standard modus operandi.tubeswell wrote:barrel of laughs - I took my tremblelux and standalone reverb unit, and after my set, Dougal Spier walked up to me with a big grin on his face and said it was the best amp he'd ever heard, and he wanted one etc (GAS attack), so I let him play a couple of songs on it at the end after I finished and he was having such a good time I almost felt bad about having to take it off him so I could get home, and now he wants me to build him one. He's been gonna get a Headstrong everytime he sees ME play.. before that it was a Victoria... and before that a 59 RI Bassman.... which, to be fair, he actually did purchase after about 10 years of talking about it.
He's a good bastard and a great mate, but you're right to take his professions of amp lust with a Lake Grassmere sized grain of salt...
