They show you a bunch of drool-inducing gear, talk about it to give you some insight, play a bit to make you go "woah that sounds good" and give you a chance to have some Q&A from a guy that knows his stuff in his field.

It's designed to make you want to buy stuff, but there is no hard sell at all.

Booked in for this, the Taylor one I went to a while back was brilliant, and a great way to spend a couple of hours in an evening and get to see and hear loads of guitars and gear

It's actually like an STD clinic, except they treat and cure people that have a Telecaster or anything in the Gretsch line-up.
