Re: Welly Gearfest (new thread) November 30th.
Here's a slightly indulgent set of photos from the Gearfest.
If you'd like to see them in a higher res, check out the gallery here (click/zoom for the bigger view).
In the interests of bringing them right to your front door:
The opening scene:
Chris (?) from New Plymouth:
Scott/Scooter, and his setup:
Alan, and his creations:
I didn't get to see all conversations generated by the modular synth he made, but it looks the part:
Vince & the Rickenbacker:
Nik & his newly acquired Gretsch:
Rob, and my Guild Starfire IV.
Laurence, always the man who can demo the most bizarre effects patches on the spot:
Tony Toans/TcmB: Of all the pedals on that board, only 2 have been there more than 6 months:
C-standard tuned firebird. (Sorry - forgot the name...)
Chris, and his baritone + pedalboard, and Tony's bass setup. I'm surprised this wasn't accidentally cranked & the loudest (but very pleasant) thing there...
Tod/Polar Bear:
Tod possibly won the prize for most pedals on the board for the day:
I didn't get the foyer at peak-gear-limbo, but this is a toned down version:
I probably should have taken a selfie, to have included myself in the bunch...

Wowsers! That was certainly worth the wait, what an amazing turnout of people and gear!

But there were some swinging hepcats with their Gretsches.hamo wrote:Let's just say nobody was swinging any cats...willow13 wrote:that room does look little ... kinda reminds me of a toneking video
I didn't mind the small rooms so much. It was kind of quieter, as Nik pointed out.

Re: Welly Gearfest (new thread) November 30th.
Great to see everyone yesterday, including meeting some new faces!
There was soooo much cool gear to get around I don't think I got to actually look at 1/5th of what caught my eye. I was actually tired by the end of it. Nevertheless, I now want another LP, an SG with P90s, a Jet City, a Charvel, a Flint, a Gretsch, a Ryan made Marshall thing, and .... to win lotto...
Those acoustically baffled rooms were great though. There was no real volume wars going on, you could hear the amp you were standing in front of without echoey sound all over the show, and I didn't use my earplugs all day...although there were occasions where fingers in ears were required.
Not sure if Rog ever got to compare my Tele with his amazing Chinese Tele. Feel free to come try it out anytime you are down in Welly!

That "Tuff Dog Tele" was absolutely amazing. Ok, I didn't plug it in but if it sounds as good as it looked..!Scooter13 wrote:Not sure if Rog ever got to compare my Tele with his amazing Chinese Tele. Feel free to come try it out anytime you are down in Welly!

Re: Welly Gearfest (new thread) November 30th.
Forgot to mention how much I loved the sound that baritone Dano was making, I think Chris was playing it?
And other Chris' rig was awesome, was surprised at some of the high gain sounds coming out of the JC.

I really wanted to, but the place just got too full, too busy, too fast. Never mind. Some other time, thanks for the offer.Scooter13 wrote: Not sure if Rog ever got to compare my Tele with his amazing Chinese Tele. Feel free to come try it out anytime you are down in Welly!
