Gigs are so expensive these days, especially if they are at places like Vector Arena etc. This makes it less likely that people will go unless they are a fan.
If overseas acts played to bigger crowds at much lower prices I would go to see much more of them just out of interest and for something to do on weekends etc, but with ticket prices so high I will only go to a concert if it is one of my favourite bands like Iron Maiden etc.

Yeah I'm a little dissapointed to have missed this one, I love their music, and I also love Anika Moa.

Why would you go to a gig if you weren't a fan? $60 tickets for me. They were $120 but I took the 2-for-1 deal with Ticketek. Totally worth it.

For shits and giggles if it's cheap enough? I've been to a couple of punk rock acts with my workmates, mostly for a bit of a fun time even though I didn't really know the bands at all.

Good point Ed. I've been to a few gigs like that but I've always done at least 5 minutes of youtube research first just so I know it's not a total waste of money beforehand.

Oh, for sure. Unfortunately my five minutes Youtube/new song listening pre-HLAH didn't tell me that I would find all their old stuff fairly boring and not to my taste

Apart from Jazz and blues (and maybe dub), I usually need more than 5 hours of listening to a rock band before I can get in to a live show. Imagine seeing Megadeth or Slayer etc without ever having listened to their music before... it may still be good from an energy perspective, but that doesn't mean you can come away saying their music was good or not from 1 listen.
That's why I tend not to go to live shows unless I am fan. But I do wish that I could instantly like a band and their music upon seeing them live for the first time.

I thought that Ticket Master were doing the tickets? Do you know if that 2 for 1 is still going? (can't find anything about it on the website).
