Vince Plays Raumati
I'm playing half-hour sets at two places at the fair locale of Raumati this Sunday.
I'm playing at the Boundary Tap & Kitchen at 1:00pm
and
at the No. 6 Café at 3:30
If you don't know already, I play solo bass and this is the type of thing I do.

Re: Vince Plays Raumati
The organisation wasn't the greatest, one thing got flagged completely when the PA uhm.. didn't actually turn up.
On the positive side, I really enjoyed playing the other place. The bass player in the band immediately before me goes "Are you Vince Cabrera? From NZG?" Tall, blond guy. I admitted I was and it turned out to be Pakehendrix, come back from Singapore and moved to Wellington. Pretty unexpected meeting him in Raumati. Great bass player. Bit understated (but I would say that, as I'm much more in-your-face) but not a note even remotely out of place. Very enjoyable listening to him.

No, that's JIMI Hendrix. I'm talking about Pakehendrix.

Not for Prince it wouldn't be.Hot_Grits wrote:I read the title as Prince plays Raumati. Which would be pretty cool.

I quite dig that. Do you have any other studio quality recordings? Do you sing as well?
I am sitting here humming the melody to myself.

Yup - that's me and my pal Steve or little stevie vai as I like to call him. In Auckland airport when I was 26. I'm not 26 anymore.

Really cool stuff, Vince. Love the vibe and the groove. Like Dave, I found myself humming the melody. That's a good thing.

Thanks, guys!NZRS-Dave wrote:I quite dig that. Do you have any other studio quality recordings? Do you sing as well?

No, I don't sing. Can't sing for toffee. Or anything, really. Some sort of breath control thing.
"Studio quality"... I have this thing that was recorded at Terry Shore's song writer radio show (783AM) ... it's a radio studio, if that counts.
It's a very different sort of piece, and one I usually start off the set with, to get people's attention.
