Joe Bonamassa - Sep 2019
Just had an alert through from VBase that Joe Bonamassa is playing in CHCH on 25th September 2019 at The Town Hall. So I'm assuming he's playing in Auckland as well at least??
Controversial but I think I quite fancy this as
a) I've never seen him (I think)
b) It's at the Town Hall and I haven't been back there yet

Saw him in Auckland a few years ago. Fell asleep mid-way through his set, no shit.
He has great sound production on stage, but I couldnt distinguish the difference between his songs. Ymmv.

Even though he wasn't 100% fit and healthy, the show he did at Horncastle Arena was really good and far better than I was expecting.Terexgeek wrote:Would be good to see Glenn Hughes live.Mattallica wrote:He should bring the rest of Black Country Communion with him

The Deep Purple show? I was front and center for that. I thought it was a phenomenal performance. Also did the meet and greet, he was lovely and personable.sty wrote:Even though he wasn't 100% fit and healthy, the show he did at Horncastle Arena was really good and far better than I was expecting.Terexgeek wrote:Would be good to see Glenn Hughes live.Mattallica wrote:He should bring the rest of Black Country Communion with him

Yep, the Deep Purple show.
I know it was sad he had to go off early, but I did think his band could have led us out to an audience participation version of Smoke On The Water, we shouldn't have needed a singer for that song
Funnily enough this weekend I was listening to a Robin George and Glenn Hughes album from a few years ago, pre Black Country Communion stuff, and it was really good, but I'm a big Robin George fan.

Yeah for the 99% of people who were only there to hear Smoke On The Water and Highway Star it would have been a big disappointment. Lucky for me i was there for all the MkIII/MkIV stuff
I will have to look up Robin George...

I was probably there, and yeah the songs DID kind of sound like that. But I thought his playing was tasty as fuck and I actually thought he was great haha. The sound was really good too.griff7628 wrote:Saw him in Auckland a few years ago. Fell asleep mid-way through his set, no shit.

I might see if I can get a ticket. Don’t like all of his stuff but most of his latest album is pretty decent.
