NZG - Nostalgia for Zee Gigs!

Post by Capt. Black »

Wows, just rummaging through some archives and found this poster.

From back in the days when a large proportion of NZG were in actual live performance bands!

Prize for naming the NZG members in each band.

I'm hoping The Random Samicks were some kind of nzg supergroup. 8 guitar players on stage, all playing different songs with their rigs turned up to 11. Kind of like watching a gearfest on stage.
1935 Martin D-45, 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo,1950 Fender Broadcaster, 1954 Fender Strat, 1958 Gibson Moderne prototype, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.
1958 Fender twin, 1965 Vox AC30, 1966 Marshall JTM 45, 1977 Dumble OD Special.
Big black garbage bag full of original Klon Centaurs and TS808s.

I remember going to this gig. May even have some photos stashed away on a HDD at home somewhere.

Random memories include the Sammicks doing a New Order song, and the guitarist from the Mysterons with an amp that was bigger than the venue ;)

Without searching I can't remember who drummed for the Sammicks and don't remember Kairos at all, could name the rest though.

Kairos was zdali and denden aka my ex bro in laws.
We all know the master of the Mysterons :)
TOV was Kristie, and I believe young Mike Johns... lost track of that guy, great guitarist, beautiful man.
Rickshaws was my lot
And ARSE in that incarnation was god himself, Darkness, Ash and the other god himself, Beeg.

Line up was me on gat/keys, James Morgan who used to be here, Ash on bass and God Himself on drums

Kairos were your ex-bros in law weren't they?

For some reason I thought you were in Transit with Kristie, memory is shot to shit lol

I remember it was Easter Saturday or something and we had to rush to the liquor shop before midnight...

I bought a reverb pedal off Mike on here in 2018. so he's been back and gone again.

I miss the original music scene from the early 2000's, bit of a lost era, back then we had our demos on MySpace, and I doubt many have made it over to Spotify or similar... not that I've looked.

Really loved the creative side of writing music and recording demos. Can't say I miss playing to 6 people and the bar staff at Galatos, Hysteria or the Kings Arms though.
