One of the first "theories" about the show that went around the internet after the pilot episode was that they were in purgatory. The producers of the show said publicly that this was not the case at all. But I guess they didn't expect to make it to season 2 at that point (as some of the recent episodes seem to suggest... )

Either way, I'm still enjoying the show ;)

48 eps to go :o

From the Herald:

LOS ANGELES - A date has been set for the final episode of award-winning TV drama Lost.

The adventure series, which has won an Emmy award for best TV drama, will run for 48 more episodes over three seasons. Each season will consist of 16 episodes, which will air uninterrupted.

Lost executive producers/showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, who have been vocal about setting up an endgame for the show, have signed on to stay for the remainder of the series' run. Their separate new eight-figure deals with Lost producer ABC TV Studio include their services on the show as well as multiyear development pacts set to kick in when Lost bows out during the 2009-10 season.

Yep, same here. Lost would have been better if they had left it at one season. It would have become cult-like. Maybe. Anyway, by dragging it on (especially for another 48 episodes) they are wearing and will continue to wear the concept and the writing quality very thin.

imo there is no point or underlying canon - its the david lynch school of cool mysterious style with no substance, leading people to imagine there is some wonderfull hidden "substance" that one day will make all the waiting worthwhile.

when the island is fully sussed, its going to be as lame as the explanation to twin peaks was.

and if i want to perv at the two hot chicks on the show i use the interweb:)

It's definitely getting a bit tedious... though I just can't stop watching it :(

I've found a replacement for Prison Break and Lost on my must watch list (heroes is still at the top)... The Black Donnellys... Anyone ever watch that movie "Sleepers"? (or read the book)... it's kinda like that. Irish/Italian mafia rivalries in New York. Worth a download :)

For a while now I've been feeling like I've totally missed something. I don't watch Lost. I saw the pilot and just didn't get it. I always think of the Lost Islands for some reason, which results in getting the theme song to that show stuck in my head. If anyone remembers it, you'll know how truly horrible that is. Damn, there it goes now. :x

And I don't watch 24, Prison Break, Heroes, or any of 'em. I'm just such a loser...

I do like House. And Rome was really good. I recently got I Am Not an Animal on DVD. Highly recommended, especially for Steve Coogan fans. 8)

Once you get to know the characters and the situation, yer hooked  (well, i am) But yeah some the eps have been a bit tedious lately. I don't mind the flashback ones cos they build more of a picture of the character, but that one where the the couple got buried alive after the spider-bites was just filler - no back story that matters (yet) , and no action of any consequence to the main plot. :? Then there's the "lost pepsi" ads every five minutes

Heroes has really livened up though, :) , and with only 5 or so eps to go, promises to be good viewing from now on, (although emo-boy and the nitwit/jessicow characters are irritating to the extreme - she's a lousy actress IMO, get her, Sylar, get her!! )

Purposely haven't ever seen 24 - saw half an ep years ago and it looked pretty good, so I intend to watch it on DVD sometime (which will be a much better experience than viewing it on TV)

I didn't bother with twin peaks. What was the lame ending to that?

It did make a career for Chris Issak though.

Heroes >> Lost 8)

Though I do like Lost. But ffs - magic super duper wishing box???!!

I loved Twin Peaks, and think it would have been even better if they hadn't been pressured into "solving" it, and had just run on as David Lynch intended. Never mind, still cool - and Yay-ness!! the second season is finally out on dvd 8)

I've never watched Twin Peaks (yet) but it did introduce me to Julee Cruise (love the haunting songs) and Angelo Badalamenti.
