if so, gimme the 1987 version... if for no other reason than it's the one I spent my teenage years listening to, and heard first.. 'heard first' is usually the benchmark for me, regardless of if it's actually 'the first'.

for once, no. I actually remember the process.. hearig the 1987 version, liking it.. then hearig the hobo version, and hearing someone (DJ, bogan sitting nearby, someone else?) at the time explaining how that was the original.. just sounded a bit 'soft' in comparisonDanger Mouse wrote:Ineed it was, is Wiki your friend too?rocklander wrote:was the original the one where the line was "like a hobo, I was born to walk alone"?

actually.. the more I think about it, the more I think it was a bogan mate nearby, cos we deduced that they changed the 'hobo' to 'drifter' cos in '87 'nobo' could be misheard as 'homo' and that's the last thing a hetrosexual bloke with long hair, makeup and questionable fashion taste wants to be confused as.

The Internet's not the only one confused now! Uhhh, there's a 2002 version as well? From my webz "research", I'm pretty sure the version I heard last night was the 1987 radio/US single version.Gelato wrote:You're talking about the version that came out in about 2002? Yeah, it's shite... Although I vaguely remember that Huff played the solo on the radio version of Here I Go in the late-80's, so maybe the internet was confused.Jenesis wrote:As a fairly big Coverdale fan, I can't believe I've never heard this sad version before or even knew it existed. Anyone else heard it?
Which begs another question - why, if that was the single, was the proper album version (with Vandenberg) used in the music video?

Stop talking about Airbourne you bastards!
BC, what's the band lineup on that disc? Doug Aldrich and Reb? I was gonna get that DVD a while back but bought a Duran Duran one instead.

Indeed it is, really worth a watch (even if Aldrich's soloing bores you )Jenesis wrote:BC, what's the band lineup on that disc? Doug Aldrich and Reb?

Here's the version in question. The video is lacking in action, but should please fans of big hair.

Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.
