Jakob @ San Fran Bath House 17 April
Jakob
Spook The Horses
Desbot
SFBH 17/4/2010
Stopped by the Lido on the way to see Darren Watson & Band tearing it up, sounded great !
Desbot was loud, Spook The Horses were aweeeesome. Not what I was expecting at all, cool stuff. Jakob were awesome as usual, way better than when they opened for ISIS at the same venue 2 months ago. Played for about 90 minutes. Even got 'Nice day for an earthquake'
Saw some new pedalboard action but couldn't make out everything, the mainstays were there though:
Jeff:
Ibanez AF-9 auto filter
Line 6 DL4
Boss DD3/DD6
Crowther double hotcake
Digitech Time bender delay
Boss RV-5
Giant footswitch that looked like it might have been a loop switcher with a blend function which had a heap of cables going in and out of it.
Lots of other crap I can't remember.
Maurice had a Boss RC20XL loop station, double hotcake, what looked like a guyatone MD-2/MD-3 micro delay DD6 Boss RV-5
If you haven't seen them on this tour then you really should. Jeff is still using that old '90s ESP Horizon custom which sounds wicked with the Hiwatt Custom 100 halfstack

You guys get Mountaineater as the opening band, so jealous haha.tonymcbony wrote:Man, I can't wait for the gig next sat in chch (24th April)
Maurice has the most thunderous rig these days, he ditched the Fender head for an Ampeg SVT and matching 8x10

Aw but that Sunn head was so cool; he told me about it briefly at one gig before he had to run off.
SVT + 8x10 is a fine choice though.
Haven't heard of mountain eater, what should I expect?

I thought he had a Fender Bassman reissue head? (Which is actually a SUNN in Fender clothing.. but anyway)tonymcbony wrote:Aw but that Sunn head was so cool; he told me about it briefly at one gig before he had to run off.

Mountaineater is a new band featuring the Guitarist from High Dependency Unit. Expect noise & awesomeness.

HDU is thumbs up indeed!
Yeah, it was something like that...I knew it was either a sunn in a fender box or a fender in a sunn box. I'll go with your idea methinks.

Damn straight you do! $20 at Al's bar. I'm very excited as they're one of my favourite bands (not just NZ bands)jeremyb wrote:HOLY CRAP I HAVE TO GO TO THIS!!! I LOVE JAKOB!!!tonymcbony wrote:Man, I can't wait for the gig next sat in chch (24th April)

Mine too, owe major thanks to this forum for getting me into them!! What time does it kick off Tony? Oh and both Jeff and Maurice had Red Witch Deluxe Moon phasers on their board, Maurice had a red witch framulus as well I think. Memory is hazy
