Quick Review: Lilt Power Brick ISP12 Pedal Board PSU

I recently purchased a Lilt Power Brick ISP12 pedal board PSU from TradeMe vendor "soundnations". It was well priced at $188.00 with free freight. It arrived quickly, has 12 isolated DC outputs (with isolated grounds), with high current availability on some outlets (500mA) plus 9V, 12V and 18V options on some outlets too. It also has an interesting "sag" feature on one outlet which I am yet to try. It includes a 12V DC power supply to plug into the mains as well as 12x DC cables to power your pedals. It has an internal micro-fan which permanently runs (quietly). It seems to be very well made and eliminated the digital noise that I was getting since adding a Strymon Iridium to my board. The unit's dimensions are: 4.5×2.6×1.5 inches

Output of the ISP 12:
5 x 9V, each 150mA;
1 x 9V, 350mA;
2 x 9V, each 500mA;
1 x 9/18V, 150mA;
2 x 9/12V, each 350mA;
1 x 4V~15V, 150mA ("Sag" outlet) - see "sag" adjustment pot in the pic.

Looks like an excellent unit.

Minor pet peeve: I get annoyed by power units like this, that require an external PSU. I just really hate wall-warts.

Why? I'd understand if it was chin warts!

Agreed, they're also not transformer isolated... I dunno how they get away with saying they are isolated either...

Properly isolated supplies have a transformer with multiple 9V or whatever voltage taps for each output, then regulation on each, this type of supply must just have some basic diode based isolation perhaps?!?!?

Interesting. Do you know of a PSU like you describe so I can check it out?

You could test it by disconnecting it from the wall, then checking continuity between the +ve of two outputs, then the -ve of the same outputs. There should be no continuity.

One spot cs7, voodoo labs pedal power, T Rex Fuel tank…

If this has solved your issue, that’s a win though.

Theres a ton of options out there, but heres a typical one: https://voodoolab.com/product/pedal-power-iso-5/

The general way to tell is they take a mains power cable directly into the unit, rather than being powered thru an external PSU :-)

Now I understand. Thanks.

Mike, if it fixes the noise and all the pedals turn on, I think you've got a winner.

Yes, completely agree. Now I'm just interested that the PSU lasts :)

Absolutely and these days I’m running something similar myself with no noise, they’ve come a long way!
