When I was a young fulla I had a Paf Pro and an Evolution in a cheap Epiphone LP100, and they just totally transformed that guitar into something I thought was pretty awesome. My tastes have changed, but they make something great for everyone (unless they play a Jazzmaster), and they're really quite affordable. My only gripe is the rediculously thin hookup hire, and the fact that it's inpossible to put the single coil ones back in the boxes if you want to sell them.
+1 on the tiny hookup wire. It's good in theory because it takes so little room. But when you've just been throught my trauma; having to re-do the job several times, it starts to seem really fragile.

Last night, in a fug of weary dejection, I emailed DiMarzio tech support. This came back 10 hours later.

"If you wired all 3 pickups identically and the neck and bridge pickups
are performing properly, it is possible the middle pickup is defective.
I can appreciate the difficulty in returning the pickup to us, but we
will repair or replace it if you can do so (assuming the pickup is the
source of the problem). If possible, send it to:

DiMarzio Inc.
1388 Richmond Terrace
P.O. Box 100387
S.I., NY 10310
USA "

Now OK, it's hardly worth shipping a pIckup back to the USA but that's not the point. They cared enough to reply quickly and make the offer. They're one of the Good Guys.

The most pAF sounding pickup (for a not real paf) I've ever heard was a 70s DiMarzio...it was in my first vintage SG.

So what happens now sf?

This is a very good reply.

As I side note, I am loving my Dimarzio 'buckers I had installed a couple of days ago. A+++, will trade again.

My repeated attempts resolved the meatware issue. :D
Although some may not like the result, to me the guitar now has the voice it was always wanting.

good oh, I'll have my radian, be interesting to do a comparison.

I've got a set of very tasty vintage tallboys in a pickguard I'm tempted to try in the radian as well at some stage, they're awesome pups but not noiseless ;)

Old pickups get some of their toan from the things that make them noisey - can't have you trifle and eat it too...

Yeah but I'm old and noisy so it all balances out.
